University of Southern Maine Campus & Accommodation
USM has campuses in Portland, Gorham, and Lewiston. Only Gorham campus offers student accommodation in the USA on campus. Gorham campus is used for visual and performing arts, with facilities such as an art gallery that showcases both student and professional work.
- Lewiston-Auburn College campus has Career planning and internship options available on-campus, and a Student Resource Hub that is open to students of all three campuses.

On the Gorham campus, USM offers several residential options. All residential halls are supervised by a live-in professional resident director, academic mentors, and Resident Assistants who assist the residential students.
There are 6 residential halls. Upon Hastings hall, Anderson Hall, and Robie Andrews hall are for freshmen. Woodward hall accommodates sophomore and transfer students. Phillippi and Upperclass Hall accommodate upperclassmen. All these residence halls are located on the Gorham campus.

UG at University of Southern Maine includes 53 major and 82 minor programs. The university offers 26 graduate degree programs. Professional development and Online Courses are also available. Online courses are offered in 3 formats: asynchronous and synchronous, and blended. Asynchronous can be completed at any time each week. Synchronous programs require students to attend class online at a particular time each week. Blended programs are a mix of online and on-campus courses.

International undergraduate and graduate students receive scholarships to study in the USA. There are mainly 3 types of scholarships available to freshmen. These scholarships are renewable for 4 years for first-year students and three years for transfer students who maintain the required GPA.
- Dirigo Scholar Award with a value upto 10,000 USD requires the GPA levels of 3.0-3.49 (85-89%).
- President’s Scholar Award with a value upto 12,000 USD needs a 3.5 GPA equivalent to 90%.
- USM scholar award is for those who scored a GPA of 2.75-2.99 (82-84%) and the value is upto 8,000 USD per year.
- To get graduate scholarship awards, students must be admitted into a graduate program at USM, enrolled in at least 6 graduate-level credits in each semester in which they earn the award, and make satisfactory academic progress toward their degree and a GPA of 3.0 (80%). Work while you study: The Federal Work-Study program is available for both US students and eligible international students. On-campus, as well as off-campus employers, participate in this program. Overview:
I wanted to get away from home but I didn't want to be too far away, because we also have a university in my home town. So I went to USM where I had friends and other family going as well. I also liked that it was near Portland which is one of our biggest cities in Maine and that I could have a lot of opportunities there.
Fees:
I had to pay for housing, tuition, and my books and class materials. In my first semester, I lived in enhanced occupancy where three people lived in one room instead of two and that chopped off 500$ from my bill.
