University Of Maryland International Admissions

The University of Maryland, Baltimore follows an open admission policy. Nearly 770 international students from around 80 countries around the world study at the university. The students need to fulfill the eligibility criteria for admissions along with the necessary specific requirements for international students. English Language Requirements

Health Insurance

International students need to have health insurance coverage to be able to study at the university. Financial Requirements

A student applying for exchange studies would require a J-1 visa to study in the USA. To obtain this visa, students need to complete the application process by submitting the tuition deposit and securing a seat for themselves in a particular course at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. 

• Students need to submit the required documents to the Office of International Services(OIS), post which they would receive the I-20 form from OIS required for the visa application. 
• Schedule a visa interview at the US Embassy.
• Students need to pay a SEVIS fee three days before the interview schedule. SEVIS fee refers to the mandate fee set by the US government to support the working of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System. This fee is to be paid only once by the students with the F-1 new students or the J-1 exchange students.
• Once the visa application is accepted, the consular office provides students with the visa stamp in their passport.

For current specific document requirements, students can contact the US Embassy for the details. On issuing a visa, students can enter the USA 30 days before the date mentioned on Form I-20. The applicants are contacted by the international advisor once the enrollment application is received by the OIS. Students are supposed to submit all the necessary documents asked including the New Student e-forms, verification of finances, copy of valid passport, etc. Upon arrival students must check in with the OIS within 30-days after the start date on Form I-20. 

University Of Maryland Undergraduate Admissions

University of Maryland, Baltimore offers various undergraduate programs at University of Maryland that are offered as full-time, part-time or online courses. The application deadline differs for the fall and the spring semester and the students are thus suggested to visit the website for details.

The minimum requirement for undergraduate admission at the University of Maryland, Baltimore is a valid score at the senior secondary level or equivalent grade. The graduate admissions at the University of Maryland, Baltimore are taken care of by the Graduate School.
