- ?It is solidly grounded in knowledge-based journalism, which is multi-disciplinary and designed to train journalists to report on the kinds of complex issues facing today's world. The multi-disciplinary approach allows students to develop areas of interest in which they want to focus their reporting, e.g., political/social policy, arts and culture, international relations, business and economics, science and technology, health, environment, and urban planning.
- Like real world journalism, the program requires that students write and edit for traditional journalism media as well as for digital, online media and social media, mobile applications and other new technologies. Moreover, as with real world journalism, the program requires that students record and edit audio and video material for use across all media platforms.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
- Have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- The undergraduate record must be of such quality as to promise successful achievement at the graduate level. Only students with an undergraduate cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 will be considered for admission. Students with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of between 2.5 and 2.99 may be considered for conditional admission. Post-bachelor's undergraduate credits will not be used to enhance G.P.A. requirements for admission to graduate study.
- Have completed, in a satisfactory manner, certain minimum course work in designated areas; the specific courses and amount of work depending upon the field of work which the student proposes to enter.
- Submit an application for admission together with an official copy of transcripts from all institutions attended, including graduate and undergraduate colleges and universities.
- Provide test scores (for those programs requiring them) on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), the aptitude portion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). Test scores may not be more than 5 years old prior to date of application.
- Have three letters of recommendation sent to the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies from officials or faculty members of institutions previously attended who are acquainted with the applicant's ability for graduate study or from employment supervisors where applicable.
- Submit a one-page personal statement of academic and professional plans and the reasons for selecting Morgan State University.
