The pathways program that the university offers. As I did a Certificate IV for a year, need to do an Associate Degree in for two years, and a final fourth year for a bachelor. I also like the university for its culture and diversity.
Course Curriculum
I am doing my first semester so I cannot state my opinion for the whole course curriculum for my Associate Degree, but for the first semester, I am somewhat dissatisfied with it as there are units that have little relevance with IT, such as Workplace Communication in where you learn things as how to be empathetic. Units such as these feel like a waste of time, but more importantly a waste of money. Other then that, however, it seems fine and I am indifferent.
Exams
Victorian Certificate of Education Exam. Also, an English and Maths evaluation when I started my studies at my university.
Events
The college itself does not have any formal events, however, the university sponsored Union does hold a lot of fun events every fortnight or so for Union members at ridiculously low prices. There are also club events that are held and the amount of events held by students for students at the university is abundant.
Fees
The fees are quite average for an Australian university, however, as Students, Australian citizens are eligible for HECs Loans (interest-free Government loans to be paid off through future taxation) which allow low-income individuals to study and gain an education. I myself do have a HECs loan.
Examination Structure
I have yet to do a formal exam at the university as last year I did a Vocational course (a Certificate IV in I.T Networking) which did not contain an exam, and my undergraduate Associate Degree has not yet processed to the Exam stage.
Faculty
Although the faculty, more so the ones I engage with such as the faculties dedicated to Engineering and Information Technology can seem arbitrary at times yet the response times from them have always been more than satisfactory.
Hostel
I live in Private Accommodation, as I found a cheap room on offer to live in, although there are Student accommodation options, they're not very cheap. Last year I lived in Student Accommodation under the organization in which I paid $175 AUD a week for a twin-share apartment, although I enjoyed independence, the financial stress was paramount and at points, I was even unable to pay for food, even with Government welfare.
