Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • The student must have completed 30 university transfer credits from an accredited university. 
    • Any 3 credit ENGL university-transferable course is required.
    • University-transferable courses of 27 credits (non-social work courses) are required.
  • Students must have a GPA of 2.0 on a 4.33 scale.
  • The student must be a High school graduate and 60% in the final year while applying for admission.
  • A minimum of 60% in Senior Secondary Education.
  • A minimum of 17 years of age by the end of the first month of the first year in this program.
  • One short course of BC secondary school graduation
  • General Arts and Humanities courses and Lifespan Human Development class courses are to be completed before entering this program. 

Work Experience:

  • 100 hours of voluntary or paid work experience in the field of Human Services is required before entering this program.
  • Examples of acceptable volunteer hours in the human services field can be Addiction treatment centers, Aboriginal agencies, Immigration services, Adoption services, Victim services, Residential programs, etc.

Language Requirements:

  • The students must be able to understand and fluently speak the language of instruction (English) in the program. Proof of linguistic proficiency may be required.
  • The students whose official language is not English must submit the English Language Proficiency scores like IELTS or TOEFL.
  • If the student does not meet the language requirements they can take English Language Learning and Acquisition (ELLA) program and complete it and pursue this program.
