Gain the essential skills required to enter the field of information technology with a UFV Computer Information Systems (CIS) certificate.
The two-semester program provides students with the knowledge and experience to work with single-user systems and meet the needs of small companies that require employees with computer experience.
As part of the program's strong emphasis on practical work, students get to apply what they learn in the classroom on hands-on projects in UFV's well-equipped labs.
Flexible course options allow students to graduate with a certificate focused on specific skills or a general knowledge base. Depending on their course selection, they may find themselves working in areas such as web support, user technical support, or computer support.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Following are the requirements for this program:
- High school graduation (equivalent to Canadian grade 12 graduation).
- BC Secondary school graduation or equivalent, or Mature student 19 years or older, or completion of 9 university-level credits with a minimum of 2.0 GPA; Principles of Math 12 with a C+ or better, or a C or better in one of the following: Foundations of Math 12, Pre-calculus 12, Math 094 and Math 095, Math 096, or Math 110.
