Master of Fine Arts at the University of Victoria is offered as a 2-years program by the Department of Visual Arts.
The University of Victoria also ranked 2nd in Maclean’s top Canadian Comprehensive Universities 2019.
This program prepares students to be professional artists. We focus on both traditional and experimental expressions.
The MFA program is primarily centered on drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and digital multimedia.
First-year MFA students will present a faculty-evaluated exhibition to determine the advisability of continuing in the second year, and you will be expected to mount a solo exhibition at the end of your second year.
Students will be able to explore your art and push the edges of their creativity.
The MFA program consists of a minimum of 33 units.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students must have an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
A grade point average of 5.0/9.0 (B average) in the work of the last two years (30 units) leading to the bachelor’s degree.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Students must complete a Bachelor’s (4 years) degree in Fine Arts or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
The minimum grade score for a degree should be 7/10 (60%), first class.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
