- In the Data Science programs, students will study the application and development of methods that facilitate insight from available data in order to understand, predict, and improve business strategy, products and services, marketing campaigns, medicine, public health and safety, and numerous other pursuits.
- The methods of Data Science involve elements of Statistics, Computer Science and Combinatorics and Optimization. The need for integrated research across both disciplines is acutely felt across all industries.
- Length of program
- 4 to 6 terms
- Students must complete at least 4 courses.
- Students lacking adequate background in computer science may be required to take CS 600 Fundamentals of Computer Science for Data Science, and students lacking adequate background in statistics may be required to take STAT 845 Statistical Concepts for Data Science.
- Neither of these courses may be counted toward the 4 course requirement.
- Students must also complete a 3-day workshop on “Ethics in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence” that will be offered in the Fall term.
- Alternatively, students can complete the course CS 798 Advanced Research Topics on “Artificial Intelligence: Law, Ethics, and Policy’’.
- For thesis option:
- Students must complete a thesis containing original work under the supervision of a faculty member.
- The student must make an oral presentation on the thesis before Examining Committee members following the regulations for the MMath degree by the Faculty of Mathematics.
- Committee members should receive a copy of the thesis at least two weeks prior to presentation.
- For research option:
- Students must complete a research paper under the supervision of a faculty member.
- The supervisor plus one additional regular faculty member of the University must assess and approve the paper.
- Students must also present their research paper topic in a publicly announced seminar.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have completed a minimum of an Honours Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field with at least a 78% standing.
- Students require experience at the senior level in computer science or statistics.
- English Proficiency: TOEFL 100 (writing 26, speaking 26) IELTS 7.5 (writing 7.0, speaking 7.0)
- GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 [B Grade].
Indian Students Eligibility:
- Students need to complete a 4 year UG degree in Business from a recognized university or institute.
- Standard XII English, a minimum final grade of 75%.
- First or Second Division standing in one of the following:
- All India Senior School Certificate awarded by CBSE
- Indian School Certificate awarded by CISCE other pre-university certificates awarded after 12 years of academic studies
