- Dalhousie University offers a Bachelor of Music for a duration of 4 years.

- Students wishing to pursue one of the four concentrations must apply by March 1 of the second year of study.
- Students intending to pursue a concentration in the composition may take the course i.e. Introduction to Composition in the fall semester of their second year.
- Students taking this option will defer their 3 credit hours Arts and Social Sciences or Sciences elective to another year.
- In the third and fourth years, students will prepare for advanced degrees in music, including the BEd, as well as for a wide range of careers in music.
- Students who are interested in pursuing a career in classroom teaching of music must complete an undergraduate degree in Music and then complete a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree at another institution.
- After completion of a BMus in Composition, students may choose to pursue graduate studies in the same field or to work as freelance composers.
- Academic excellence and achievement in music performance can be rewarded through University scholarships (based on GPA rankings), Fountain School awards, and also through scholarships and awards specific to students in Music degree programs.
- Job opportunities after Bachelor of Music are Musicians and Singers, Music directors/conductors, etc and the average salary goes up to 44,000 USD.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have completed their academic English grade 12 courses with a minimum overall average of 70%.
- Students also have to complete four additional academic subjects.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
- All-India Senior School Certificate (CBSE)
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
- Indian School Certificate (CISCE)
- Or, another Senior Secondary School Certificate awarded after standard XII
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

Following are the required document:
- Online application form and fees: Students have to fill the online form and submit the application fees.
- Resume: Outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work, and/or volunteer experience.
- Two Professional References: Referees (Teachers, guidance counselors, or Professors) should comment on academics and that references should submit along with the application system.
- Transcripts: Students have to submit transcripts from all universities/colleges attended, World Education Services Assessments, and English Language Proficiency test scores
- Confirmation of Employment Form: Students must be emailed as an attachment by applicant or referee.
- Proof of name change: Required only if name discrepancies exist between transcripts/assessments/test scores and other application documents. Examples of proof: Marriage/divorce certificates, 2 copies of government-issued ID that include a previous and current name and date of birth.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
