Bachelor of Music at the University of Alberta allows students to complete this course in 4 years.
It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
The Bachelor of Music program is the most intensive of all the music programs and admission is dependent upon a successful performance audition as well as the completion of a music rudiments placement test.
This route allows for the most flexible programming to accommodate individual backgrounds and interests and it can be as general or as specialized as students wish.
Students will have the opportunity to take courses in both theory and performance, including music history, world music, classical, and contemporary music.
Students can also earn credits by participating in one of the many performing ensembles, which include orchestras, concert choirs and bands, contemporary and improvisational ensembles, opera workshops, and world music ensembles.
Through the program, students will have access to award-winning teachers, global researchers, and renowned performers in a warm, close-knit academic community.
Students accepted into the Bachelor of Music program will automatically be registered into the General Route.
The student-faculty ratio for this program is 21:1 which is small class sizes that create close working relationships with classmates and instructors.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students have to complete the English (Literature and Composition) language course.
Students have to complete one course from the following subjects to get admission in this program:
- Fine Arts
- Humanities
- Languages other than English
- Math/Sciences
Students have to complete three-course from the following subjects to get admission in this program:
- Humanities
- Languages other than English
- Math/Sciences
Students should hold an English Language Proficiency test score.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

Complete International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Secured a minimum of 70% marks in one of these certificates: All India Senior School Certificate, Higher Secondary School Certificate, Intermediate Certificate, Indian School Certificate.
Completed grade 11 and grade 12 with 70% marks.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
