Assam Engineering College (AEC) Guwahati Admission 2024: Course, Eligibility

Assam Engineering College offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and B.E. Lateral. The regular B.E. course is offered for a duration period of four years. The duration period for B.E. Lateral is three years.

10+2 qualified students can apply for admission to the course. Minimum 50% marks should be secured in the final examination. 

Key points to remember for B.E. & B.E. (Lateral) admission:

• Candidates ranked within the first 10 positions in the Assam Higher Secondary (Science Stream) Examination must apply for direct admission within 10 days of publication of examination results to the Director of Technical Education, Assam.
• Candidate should be an Indian Citizen and a permanent resident of Assam.
• A candidate seeking admission B.E. Lateral will be admitted to B.E program in 3rd semester.

Assam Engineering College offers a Master of Engineering (ME) to the students under various specializations of Engineering. All the M.E specializations are offered for a duration period of two years. The total intake capacity for the course is 70. Admission to the course will be based on the marks secured in GATE.

Key Points to remember for M.Tech Admission:

• Minimum marks of 55% for General & OBC/MOBC/SC/ST and for SC/ST, 50% minimum marks are needed for eligibility.
• Reservation is as per Govt. Norms.
• Final GATE scores will be considered for the final Merit list.

The college also offers MCA at the postgraduate level for a duration period of three years. The intake capacity for the program is 60 seats. Candidate with a graduation degree can apply for admission to the course.

Key Points to remember for Admission in MCA:

• Candidates seeking admission in MCA have to appear in Assam JMEE.

• Candidate should be between 20 years to 26 years of age on 1st July
• Minimum 50% marks for General candidate and 45% marks for reserved category candidate.

Apart from UG and PG programs, Assam Engineering College also offers Ph.D. degree programs under four specializations. Post Graduation degree holder in the relevant subjects can apply for admission to the course. Admission to the course will be based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination.

• Candidate must visit official website of Directorate of Technical Education, Assam for applying online.
• Submit the printout of application form signed by the candidate with bank draft in favour of The Director, Technical Education,Assam payable at State Bank of India, Kahilipara Branch, Guwahati.
• The application fees is INR 1000.

Documents Required at the time of Admission for Reserved Category:

• Candidate seeking admission through quota of Freedom Fighter, must submit two certificates, from the Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, Assam, certifying the Freedom Fighter and from the Deputy Commissioner, or Official authorized by the Deputy Commissioner, stating the direct relationship of the candidate with the freedom fighter.
• Candidate seeking admission under quota of Central Government employee, must submit two certificates, School or College last attended, and Permanent Resident Certificate of parents from their native state.
• Candidate seeking admission for reserved category of ex-Defense Services, must produce a certificate, from Secretary, Rajyik Sainik Board, Assam, and documentary evidence of pension.
• Candidate seeking admission under SC/ST/OBC/Tea Garden/Ex.Tea Garden Community must produce a certificate on the body of Form B.

Seats reserved for the candidates of Assam:

• 7% seats reserved for SC candidates.
• 10% seats for ST (plains) and 5% seats for ST (hills) candidates
• 15% seats for OBC/MOBC candidates
