The Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, was founded by the government of Kerala, India, in August 1999. The institution is located in Barton Hill.
The institute has five major departments: Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The courses offered are B.Tech and B.Tech (Lateral) at undergraduate level. At postgraduate level, the college offers M.Tech in various specializations.
Apart from the other courses, the college also offers M.Tech in Translational Engineering at postgraduate level. Advance Diploma course is also offered by the college after B.Tech/B.E for a duration of one year.
Government Engineering College (GECBH) offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and B.Tech ( Lateral) to the aspiring candidates who want to make their career in the field of Engineering. The two courses are offered in five specializations each for four years and three years respectively.
Admission in B.Tech and B.tech (Lateral) is based on the marks scored in entrance examination conducted by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala which ensures only meritorious students join the institution.

At postgraduate level, the College also offers Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Translational Engineering for a duration of two years. Intake capacity of the programme is 18 seats.
Interested candidates may apply to this course only if they meet all the eligibility criteria. Candidates must have passed their Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Engineering.
