Shriram Institute of Maritime Studies, New Delhi, Delhi, SIMS is fully liaised with the modern facilities, amenities and infrastructure required by a sophisticated institute of this kind. The institute  came into existence after the approval on 27th January 2006 with an intake of 38 students. The course was merged with the present GP Rating course in July 2003 as per the order of the DG Shipping. The college started the first batch of one year for Pre-Sea Dip. in Nautical Science in Aug 2006.

• Hostels:  Accommodation to the Pre-Sea Course students is provided within the campus. Separate hostels are available for the officers and rating courses in a different location on the campus. The hostels are very well equipped with modern facilities. All students are provided with study materials, books, registers and other navigation equipment along with good quality Linen issued to the course participants. The teachers maintain a high standard of discipline amongst the students.
• Boat work:  A unique feature of this institute is the boat work. The Institute has the proper system of operating boats in the water; proper lowering hoisting and working with the boat takes place on the campus. Students are familiarized during the course schedules.
