Indian Maritime University (IMU), Kolkata was recognized as a central university in the year 2008, under the Ministry of Shipping, GOI. In addition to its flagship 4-year B.Tech. course in Marine Engineering, it also offers PG (M.Tech. and MBA) courses, and other industry related short-term courses. IMU Kolkata Admission

Admission to UG and PG courses is done on the basis of cut-off in IMU-CET entrance examination conducted by the university. Admission criteria for B.Tech. Marine Engineering is minimum of 60% marks in PCM and minimum of 50% in English in 10+2 and have qualified IMU-CET. Admission criteria for M.Tech. Marine Engineering and Management is 60% marks in BE/B.Tech. in Marine Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture and have qualified IMU-CET. Admission criteria for MBA International Transportation & Logistics Management is 50% marks in graduation and qualified IMU-CET. Admission into other short-term courses will be based on the strict technical capabilities of the candidates as mandated by the university from time to time.

Hostel and Mess- There are separate hostels for girls and boys with facilities like T.V. rooms, mess, and study rooms. Hostels have an intake capacity of more than 800.
Medical facility- 24 * 7 medical facilities are available for the students in the campus.
Ship- The institute is home to a ship with a marine propulsion engine to provide hands on training to the cadets.

The placement rate of this college is up to 80% and other students secure placements with Mumbai companies. No, my college does not provide internships. We do internships and training in the company where we are placed or at the Calcutta port, which is located next to the college.

I took an entrance Exam Named IMUCET Which Is Required To Take Admission To Any Marine Courses. After That, I Have To Sit For the Councelling procedure. After Councelling I have To report to the campus for document verification. then I was provided with one admission letter and a pdf stating all the items I have to bring from home as it is a Residential course.
