70% of the seats are reserved for the merit students while the remaining 30% of the seats are reserved for management quota. Lateral entry students are admitted to the B. Tech course directly in the second year to a maximum extent of 20% of total intake. M. Tech admissions are based on the score obtained in the GATE examination which is conducted by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.

- Computer Centre: A computer center giving free internet access to all students and staff for research purposes. It is equipped with a high speed 200 Mbps internet facility.
