Course Curriculum Overview:

On an average, A class consists of 60-65 Students and there are currently 250 students enrolled in Computer Science Engineering for my year of enrollment. The girls:boy ratio is currently at 4:9 i.e. There are 4 girls for every 9 boys in a class. This ratio is fairly consistent across all branches at any given time. Coming to cultural diversity, The student demographic comprises mostly of students belonging to a Telugu household and hail from either Telangana or Andhra Pradesh. There also students from the North: Specifically Haryana and Gujarat at the college as well. In conclusion, While there are students from North India as well, Majority are of South Indian descent particularly Telugu. The peer group is great. With students with different educational background coming together to help each other out during projects, assignments and examinations. The diverse educational background helps in diverse point of views and teaching within in a group which leads to better understanding of subjects and concepts overall. While there are no marks awarded for just attending a class, 5 marks are reserved for Day to Day evaluation of student by the professor. This includes punctuality, regularity to class, Promptness of assignment/project submission and general performance in the subject. From what I have observed, Students do attend classes regularly to learn. While outliers exist who prefer to learn on their own, The vast majority are dependent on the professors for teaching and hence do attend with an intention to learn.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Sreyas Institute of Engineering and Technology provides a very rich and challenging academic experience. Usually, classes are about 60 to 80 students in number. The overall student strength in this Computer Science Engineering branch will be around 300-400. Over all, the college has different strengths at both boys and girls. It may have nearly a 3-1 ratio of boys versus girls and is male-dominated. Such a ratio does not however deny the active participation of female students in both academic and extracurricular activities. The diversity in the classroom also lies in the culture as there are students from various parts of India. Many of them belong to different states, mainly Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra. This makes the learning process a rich one due to bringing diverse perspectives and diverse backgrounds. This mix forms a collaborative peer group, promoting peer learning and peer interaction in class discussions and group projects. It encourages class participation, and most of the times, the students receive marks given to them for active classroom participation. Most of the students genuinely come to classes, anticipating learning and trying to understand the material that is presented; however, some may be merely due to having to attend classes. Nonetheless, this very classroom environment is highly conducive to learning. Students take each other's part; meaningful discussions take place between students to enrich the learning process.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We have about 60-70 students in a class. Total strength in the specialisation computer science engineering will be around about 300 students. However, overall for the B.Tech program, all specialisations together would be about 1200 in strength. The girls-to-boys ratio for our course is about 1:4, illustrating that the college has a greater enrollment of boys. The girls-to-boys ratio throughout the college is approximately 1:3, which corresponds with the general trend across various fields. Culturally, our class is very heterogeneous, with the student hailing from a different part of India. We have significant proportions of students from neighboring states - some students come from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, constituting around 20-25% of the class. The kind of cultural diversity we experienced helped bring diverse prospective angles to the learning experience. Generally, the peer group is friendly and encourages learning from peers. Many students do group work on projects and during study sessions thus encouraging a palatable atmosphere of learning. In most cases, group discussions lead to deeper insights as students are sharing their own comprehension of the concept. The class is fully encouraged to participate. There are marks for attractive engagement in discussions and, therefore, motivates us to attend classes but also helps build an interesting learning atmosphere. Actual attendance for learning purposes occurs among many of those attending classes with intent, especially for those students who are interested and committed to their academic and professional futures. On the other hand, a few always seem to attend primarily in order to fulfill attendance requirements. In general, most students are committed to their education, as they can see value in the knowledge and skills being absorbed in class.
