Prophet Mohammad’s daughter Fatima and Hazrat Ali, the first among prophet’s twelve successors had an idea of starting a degree College in Lucknow which was approved by the Shia community’s leaders in the year 1915.
As of today, Shia College has been able to grow from a school to a postgraduate (PG) college in eight decades and enrolls about ten thousand students each year with approximately two hundred teachers and about the same number of the non-teaching staff. Several UG and PG courses in science, arts, commerce along with LL.B. is offered by the college.
Candidates seeking admission into B.Sc.-I / B.A.-I / B.Com.-I must have secured a minimum aggregate of 40% marks in the intermediate examination one person of the total marks obtained would be deducted for every gap year. There should not be a gap of more than five years between the year of passing the examination of high school and the intermediate examination. Candidates seeking admission into B.Com must have passed their intermediate examination in arts or commerce Science and mathematics or economics.
Students seeking admission into M.Com, M.Sc and M.A must have passed their graduation with minimum aggregate marks of 45%.
Candidates seeking admission into LL.B. will be selected based on their merit. The merit list would be prepared by normalizing the percentage of marks the candidate has obtained in the qualifying examination and after that deducting the marks for each gap per year as per the rules. This merit list would be displayed on the official college website as well as on the notice board of the college.
There is no reservation for the minorities as Shia College is a minority college. 80% of the seats for admission into LL.B. would be filled up by the candidates passing the qualifying examination from the Lucknow University. The rest 20% of the seats are available for students who have done their graduation from other universities. Also, out of the 320 seats allotted, 80 are meant for girls and the remaining 240 are meant for boys.

The application form for all the above-mentioned courses can be found online or could be collected from the college during the office hours. The form has to be filled properly and enclosed with all the necessary documents. The application fee would have to be sent through a demand draft in favor of the Principal of the college. Admission into the UG courses would be done strictly on the basis of merit which would be calculated by normalizing the percentage of marks the candidate has obtained in the qualifying examination and after that deducting the marks for each gap per year as per the rules.
