The government institute of forensic sciences was established in August 2009 in Aurangabad under the department of higher and technical education, the government of Maharashtra. The institute was developed with a special resolution to provide education and research in the field of forensic science. The institute offers undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs in forensics and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)courses in different specializations. the institute is one of the leading institutes in India which imparts quality education in various domains of forensic science.
The institute is spread in an area of 21 acres on the campus of govt institute of science, Aurangabad. Besides that, the institute actively provides training to police officials on various topics including crime scene investigations and digital forensics.

Admission to all the programs provided by the institute will be strictly based on the rules and regulations formed by the government of Maharashtra and DR Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.
Admission to BSc, MSc, and PGD courses will be based on the merit list prepared by the institute and reservation policies. The application process for all the courses is conducted in online mode.

The institute has its own placement cell and it organizes campus placements for the last year MSC students. The institute has arranged 100% placements for the students in the last academic year(2019). The students are placed in various private and government agencies such as police training center, National crime records Bureau, Pitney Bowes, Incognito, Infosys.
The institute also conducts various summer and winter internships for the students to various leading Forensic science labs of the country such as Central forensic science laboratory (CBI)-Delhi, CBI-Pune, Directorate of forensic science laboratories-Mumbai and many more.

Ans. Yes, the college also provides additional online certificate programs to the admitted students of the institute through the MOU signed with the IIT Bombay under the spoken tutorial platform. Each student can appear for 3 programs in a semester as per their preferences.

Ques. What is the tie-breaking rule for getting admissions to the institute?
Ans. Admissions to the BSc programs are done based on the merit of HSC marks and reservations. In case, if the aggregate marks of 2 candidates are the same, then the admissions will be done based on the aggregate marks of compulsory subjects. Further, the tie-braking will be done based on the SSC marks and age. Similarly for PG diploma courses. Admissions are done based on the aggregate percentage of bachelor's degree. In the case of the same marks, tie-breaking will be done based on the HSC, SSC marks, and age. (older will be given priority).

Ans. True copies of each of the Following documents are required to bring by the candidate along with the originals.

Ans. Yes, the college provides financial assistance to the students through both national and international scholarships. The institute also promotes the students to apply for scholarships provided by private trusts and companies. Students are also benefited through the E-scholarship portal which includes various scholarships such as Savitribai Phule scholarship, Government of India scholarship, Vidya veteran Yojna, etc.
