I am a student of Medical College Kolkata, so I’ll try to justify joining this college for your MBBS-
NEIGRIHMS is a good college as well. But being an alumnus of KMC, I would encourage you to consider this college for your medical studies.
Both GMC and NEIGRIHMS have their own pros and cons. I am listing down the advantages of both-
GMC
NEIGRIHMS
Both GMC and NEIGRIHMS are good medical colleges. You should choose between them based on your own preferences.
I belong to Silchar and pursued my MBBS from NEIGRIHMS. This makes me qualified to talk about both. Here are some details on both these institutions-
NEIGRIHMS:
SMC:
If you are a domicile of Assam, it is better to do your MBBS from SMC. After your graduation, go for rural posting. After all this, you’ll become eligible for state PG quota. NEIGRIHMS has a very high competition for PG seats, and getting in for a UR student is especially difficult.
Both are equally good colleges, and you should choose between them based on your own preferences.
No seats are reserved for ST candidates in AIQ and NEIGRIHMS Open for NE State and Sikkim permanent residents.
The AIQ cutoff goes high. As per trend, it stands at around 540-550+. The cutoff for the NEIGRIHMS Open stands at around 460-480+.
I am listing down the seats reserved for ST students with prc of these states-
I have given you a general idea as I don’t have the exact figures.
