CS Foundation is an 8-month long course that serves as the first level in the pursuit of becoming a Company Secretary. CS Foundation is provided by ICSI which is a combination of postal tuition classes and optional coaching sessions.

CS Foundation Duration

The Company Secretary Foundation course is the first level of all three levels in the journey of becoming a Company Secretary. The duration of the CS Foundation course is 8 months. However, the admission to CS Foundation course is valid for three years and the candidate needs to qualify for the CS Foundation exam within this time period. There is a choice given to candidates if they clear the CSEET exam then they can directly pursue the CS executive course.

CS Foundation Admission Process

The process for admission into the CS Foundation course is quite straight and one needs to follow some steps to get in. In this section, we will discuss every step one by one. 

Steps for Filling CS Foundation Exam Form

  • Step 1: Keep the scanned copy of your passport-sized photograph, signature, birth certificate, 10+2 proof, caste certificate (except for unreserved category), the identity proof (aadhar, driving license, pan card, passport, ration card, or voter ID).
  • Step 2: Visit the official website of ICSI.
  • Step 3: Select register for the CS course from the online services tab.
  • Step 4: Select all the documents, in the checkbox, that are required to be uploaded.
  • Step 5: Fill in all basic details (like name, qualification, gender, category, date of birth, nationality, mobile number, email, etc) to generate a Unique Request ID. 
  • Step 6: Fill in your qualification details.
  • Step 7: Fee details
  • Step 8: Upload the scanned images of documents that were checked in the checkboxes in step 4.
  • Step 9: Make the required payment and generate the transaction ID.

CS Foundation Eligibility

All candidates applying for admission to the CS Foundation course should ensure that they must fall under the following.

  • Should have passed their 10+2 or similar exam at an accredited board/university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • Students who are appearing in Grades 10+2 are eligible for the ICSI CS Foundation program but they need to show proof of it like their exam roll number.

CS Foundation Admit Card

The CS Foundation admit card is the most mandatory document to be carried by every candidate. Candidates failing to produce the admit card are not allowed to take the exam. The admit card for the examination in June 2023 will be available 15 days before the exam from the official website of ICSI.

CS Foundation Exam Pattern

The CS Foundation exam is a computer-based test and will be conducted in two days. On the first day, tests for subjects Business Environment and Law and Business Management, Ethics and Entrepreneurship will be conducted. On the second day, tests for the subjects Business Economics and Fundamentals of Accounting and Auditing will be conducted.
