- In the research-oriented study of educational science, educational and learning-theoretical basics are first deepened and classified in the theory of science. This includes the analysis of individual requirements as well as the analysis of social influences on extra-curricular educational processes.
- The methodological reflection of educational research paradigms offers an important basis for this. The method training provides well-founded insights into the most important methods of quantitative and qualitative educational research and focuses on the relationship between theory, practice and empiricism.
- This deepens the understanding of findings from empirical educational research. In the education management module, models and procedures for planning, design, implementation and evaluation of formal and informal learning opportunities conveyed and enriched with practical components.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Admission requirements are the successful completion of the two-subject bachelor's program at the University of Paderborn with the subject of educational science or a comparable degree that includes the following competencies:
- Know and apply basic questions of educational science
- Know and apply anthropological, social and cultural conditions of education
- In-depth knowledge and application of educational work, qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Orientation knowledge about learning theory and general didactic approaches
- Know and apply basic questions of interaction and communication
- Knowledge and overview of extracurricular institutions and organizations, of pedagogical fields of activity and work in the field of educational and cultural work as well as vocational training and professional action in these contexts
