Dr A Devaraju is the Principal of Adhi College of Engineering and Technology, Kanchipuram. He has completed M.Tech, MBA and Ph.D. as part of his academic qualifications. Among the highlights of his career are 10 years as a principal, 23 years teaching, 1 year working in the industry, and 17 years working in research. He has guided 32 UG projects, 28 PG projects, and 12 Ph.D. projects. The IETE, Bangalore has awarded him the Principal of the year 2017 Award. In conferences, he has received the "Best Researcher Award" four times.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Spreading education is one of the greatest contributions you can make in this world”

There are many ways you can make an impact on the world. But there is no greater impact that you can make than spreading education. The Key factors motivating me are equal access to education, exchange of experience between staff, New quality Assessments and learning from the best practices.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“A team effort will produce results greater than the effects of the individual members”

My philosophy of leadership includes motivating my team. I lead with a shared vision and effectively communicate how our professional development, new initiatives, and instructional practices align with that shared vision. I’m great at delegating and finding the strengths of other team members. I try to give each person a chance to do what they’re best at and create a team effort that delivers a great result.

What can an inbound student gain from studying here in your college?

“For students' benefit, we regularly organize Industry Institute Interactions and Guest Lectures”

Foreign countries prioritize "First Job, then Education", but in India, it's "First Education, then Job". As per education in India, students are looking for a job. We want to change this situation in the upcoming days. AICTE offers the internship program for all departments, students utilize that program and develop practical knowledge and learn what industry demands. Students learn more about the industry through Industry Institute Interactions and Guest Lectures. Located in the Industrial Area, ADHI College of Engineering and Technology allows the students to gain practical experience by visiting different industries. 

How does the curriculum of Adhi College of Engineering and Technology ensure the best practice of industry?

"We are training and moulding students from the first year onwards to fit what the company expects"

We follow NIRF Rank 12 Anna University circulated Syllabus. ADHI College regularly conducts the Industry Institution Interaction program for all students. As of 1st year, we train students based on company requirements. We then place the students in respective MNCs and Core Companies.

What are your college's policies regarding racial or economic diversity?

“Scholarships provide free education and free lodging to 50% of students”

Adhi College of Engineering and Technology admits students from different parts of the districts and states. If the student’s family annual income is below INR 2 LPA, our college Management provides a special scholarship for merit, economically weaker and farming background students. The scholarship defines free education and hostel fees for 50% of students. The remaining 50% of students are paying under the government norm fees.

What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“We plan to introduce dynamic courses and work on innovation”

We prioritize the emerging trends of our country through Artificial Intelligence, Electric Vehicles, Advance Agriculture Technology, Bio-Technology, and Renewable Energy Sources.

As an initiative, we included the Artificial Intelligence Course in our college and are keen to adopt other trends in forthcoming years. Under Central Government funding, we plan to work on innovations relating to electric vehicles.

Our College is accredited by NAAC, New Delhi and has permanent affiliation status by Anna University, Chennai. Recognized by UGC Act 1956., An ISO Certified Institution. It is situated in an eco-friendly Environment area, offering a quality Education at moderate Fees. All students pay government-regulated fees. We provide scholarships to merit, economically weaker and farming background students. We ensure that all students have the opportunity to be placed. 

What are some plans that you’re currently designing for international affairs and students?

"MoU's with universities in the US, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, Germany, and Dubai”

ADHI College of Engineering and Technology already signed MoU’s with US, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, Germany and Ethiopia Universities. Thus, paving the way for the students to achieve their higher studies with great knowledge. College students can study abroad for one semester (in universities with signed MoUs) and the rest at ADHI. Thus, ADHI students can learn the knowledge they need to be successful in the global market.

How do you tend to establish a healthy environment in your college?

“I encourage professional development and stay updated on the latest trends in the field”

The fine relationships among the people are being maintained through various social events. Students need a culture of learning and creativity with support for their careers while faculty members need empowerment. We have developed a culture of excellence, co-operation and respect among all stakeholders. The faculty members are included in all the major decisions and strategy development as they are equivalent stakeholders of the department. I try to keep their motivation levels high and duly appreciate the faculty members for their contributions.
