Adv K.M Mijas is the Managing Director of Al-Azhar Group of Institutions. He is a phenomenal leader. Hailing from a family of businessmen, he was keen to do business since his schooldays. After completing LLB, he joined as Director of Al-Azhar College of Arts & Science. Since then, the Group of Institutions grew exponentially providing quality education to tens of thousands of youngsters. Now Al-Azhar offers International level education from KG to PG.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“I believe that a supporting mode of leadership works best within our campus”

Each college within the Group of Institution has its own method of operations. The goals and values of each institution differ. So the principals are given most of the power in guiding their institutions to greatness. As a director, I merely support and guidance when necessary. I believe that a democratic approach works best in an education institute. Each voice carries power within the campus. Opinions of students, teachers, and other staff are taken seriously. It enriches the experience of each student as well as faculty.

Any insights into how your Institutes could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“Al-Azhar is accessible to students of all castes, creed, race, and economic backgrounds”

We adhere to reservations made by the Government. We also have various scholarship programs for students from backward economies. Half of all our seats are Merit based. We genuinely believe that every student deserves a chance at higher education.

What was your vision for the Institutions? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

“The vision behind Al-Azhar Group of Institution was to make higher education accessible within Idukki”

Al-Azhar’s journey began with Arts & Science College. In just 18 years, we have been able to provide 45+ programs under 13 institutions. Al-Azhar now accepts students from all over Kerala and focuses on providing quality education for all.

“Our quality education prepare students for all walks of life”

Al-Azhar has been providing quality education to thousands of students for the past 18 years. With over 45+ programs under 14 institutes, Al-Azhar offers a rich diversity in the field of education. Situated in a 100-acre campus, Al-Azhar’s most significant strength will always be the students. Spirited and skilled, the students are continuously broadening the boundaries of the campus through their active participation.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Follow your passion wholeheartedly”

Passion and hardwork are the two critical factors for personal growth. If you are not interested in what you are learning, you are merely absorbing it. Education can be made useful only when students explore their subjects theoretically and practically. Grow your skills while still at college. Get help from professionals - from teachers, seniors. Conduct and attend workshops, lectures. Widen the spectrum of your knowledge every day. With enough hard work and help, you, too, can be significant. Never think anything else.
