Dr. Mohammed Yousuf Ali is working as a principal at Arjun College of Technology and Science, Hayathnagar, Telangana. He has completed his PhD from Hyderabad in the year of 2008.He has worked in various reputed engineering colleges for about 30 Years in various positions in which for 13 years he worked as a professor and principal. He has published around 50 papers in reputed journals. He is also the author of two textbooks for mechanical students.

Being a principal, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To create best environment for them to learn and grow”

My accountabilities towards my students include maintaining academic standards, inculcating good values in them, arranging guest lectures, workshops, seminars, visits to nearby industries, creating better environment for the upcoming technocrats, staff recruitment. Apart from all these I also interact with parents for having a synchronization between them and us on how their children’s are performing.

How does your college prepare students for the placements and higher?

“We do have separate training and counseling sessions for students who wants to secure a good job or want to approach for further studies”

Nowadays very few placements take place in the corporate sector, so we encourage our students to be job creators rather than job seekers. And for this we train them for placements from 3rd year onwards. We encourage them for All India competitive examinations, and other corporate exams. We arrange counseling sessions for the students by experts. Those who are interested in higher education abroad are counseled separately.

What valuable advice would you like to give to the students to have a prosperous career ahead?

“Be fierce and learn new skills to tackle challenges in real life”

Today’s youth are future of our country and society, so they need to be guided properly. They should be trained on experiential learning and life skills so that they do not shiver to take up any challenge in life. My key takeaway for the younger ones is that they should dream and dream big. If one needs to be successful in future, he should prove himself first as a human being. We encourage compassion.

What are the approaches you bring in apart from curriculum teach the students?

“We provide them with opportunities and ideas to think out of the box solution for real-world challenges”

We encourage our students to take real life problems as opportunities to learn. We treat students like our family members and they are being also involved in all policy decisions of the college. We give them maximum freedom in organizing the events in the college. All the events are conceptualized and implemented by students only.

How do you help your student to cope up with this competitive world?

“Counseling sessions are organized to provide them a platform to put forward their concerns”

Knowledge and skill are mandatory to succeed in all spheres of life. From day one our faculty help them in overcoming their fears. We do regular mentoring work to listen to their issue and try to provide the best possible solutions. 

Has the statistics of admissions of your college is more in comparison from the last year?

“Due to rapid demands of computer science engineers, admission statistics has increased”

Yes, definitely the admission graph has increased with respect to previous year data. Due to the increasing demands of professionals and experts in computer-based courses, the other courses are lagging. We have a very good strength of students in computer related branches.

What extra-curricular activities are organized by the college to enhance the skills of students?

“We do organize a variety of technical and cultural activities to sharpen their physical and mental fitness”

We do offer very rich and diverse opportunities to students to excel in co-curricular activities. Active student life in the form of student boards, societies, clubs and committees catering to a variety of student co-curricular and extracurricular preferences. We encourage them for sports and games. We encourage them to participate in NSS activities and other social activities as well.

Which new programs have been introduced in your college for students’ benefit? 

“Course of Artificial intelligence and Machine learning has been introduced recently by us”

We have introduced the course of Artificial intelligence and Machine learning in the computer science engineering and engineering branch. Next year we want to introduce a few new courses to improve our existing admission process. We also want to go for the accreditation process to standardize our education system so that the students can be benefitted out of it.

What is the highest package offered to the students during placements till date?

“Students are offered a maximum package of 6 lakhs till date”

For our students beginning salary is not the criteria. We want our students to be placed in reputed companies. At present the maximum salary is 6 lakhs per annum.
