Dr. Vipin Jain is Director of Bharat Institute of Technology, Meerut. He is a passionate individual who disseminates the idea of acquiring knowledge, although degree is an essential aspect too. His aim of life is to contribute new concepts in Electrical Engineering through his research publications and video lectures. Read here what he has to say in his interview.
What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“Teaching is a noble profession”
Teachers are selfless, always ready to go to any extent to help their students. It gives a great feel of self-satisfaction to a teacher when they see their students have achieved success in life. Role of a Teacher is to provide quality education to the students and mould them into competent and confident professionals. This vision of mine keeps me connected with the education sector. The primary reason I joined the education sector is "I wanted to make a difference in student's life". The connection and satisfaction you feel at the end of every lecture is what keeps me bound with the education sector. I feel fortunate that I can help and contribute to a student's college life.
What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
“An essential component of smooth functioning is to establish amicable relations with the people working in institution”
For any institution, human resources (Faculty & staff members) are the most significant assets. The kind of relationship you build with your colleagues can make a massive difference in the working and growth of an institute. I feel the proper utilization of human resources & keeping them happy is the key to our success at Bharat Institute of Technology.
I think my leadership strengths are considerable communication skills and teamwork with the fellow staff members of the BIT, Meerut. I am always connected with the faculty and try to delegate work equally among faculty and staff members. Being Director of Bharat Institute of Technology, I try to eliminate miscommunication to avoid back-and-forth, mistakes and need to re-do tasks. It helps in proper working and effective utilization of resources.

How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for marketing and administration of your Institute?
“Growth of Technology has made marketing an essential part of the educational institute’s life”
Brand building and making students aware of the institute through marketing and digital platforms is very crucial in getting a good number of quality students. The internal help discussion includes the plans for branding and marketing among faculty members and staff of BIT, Meerut.
Regarding Administration, Electrical Department of Bharat Institute of Technology (BIT) possesses one of the most acceptable faculty bases in the City of Meerut. Institute and department offer plenty of monetary and non-monetary reward mechanisms, along with scholarships from various agencies. Apart from high-quality education, our institute provides multiple facilities to the students to flourish their innovative ideas into reality.
How does the curriculum of Bharat Institute of Technology ensure the best practice of industry?

The significant growth in technology has led to the need for industry-oriented education and development of considerable skills which are needed to survive the current corporate pressure. Thus all educational institutes must understand the importance of this factor. Institute should develop a schedule for the pedagogical learning of students accordingly. To make our students of Bharat Institute of Technology (BIT), Meerut employable and more confident in the industry, we focus mainly on practical knowledge through multiple Labs & Projects. BIT (Meerut) offers an excellent bouquet of skill programs out of which students could choose the schedule of their interest and liking and become competent professionals, to be ready for the industry or to be on their own, and make a difference in their life.

What do you think should be the College’s top priority over the next 10 years?
“Our team emphasises and considers placements to be a top priority”
Performance of students from BIT, Meerut helps a lot in building the brand value of the institute. To improve the placements, we focus mainly on grasp over theoretical knowledge, good projects by the students & research publications by faculty members and fellow students. Our Pharmacy department is the research Centre of Dr AKTU for PhD. Scholars. Medium, small and micro enterprises (MSME) is an area we want to tap for consultancy. The next priority would be to nurture the quality of the students passing out so that they are wanted not only in India but abroad as well.
What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Bharat Institute of Technology specifically?
“There is not much focus on industry oriented education”
Higher Education Institutes in India are not focusing on industry-oriented education. It is the biggest challenge in higher education. The primary focus of higher education should revolve around teaching students more about the skills which are being used in the industry at present. It will make students more capable and confident while applying for jobs in the industry. In the long run, it will also help in improving the brand image of the institute.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?
“Knowledge is as essential as acquiring a degree”
Youth thinks that degree is more important than knowledge. I want to inform them both are equally important. I will advise students to focus more on setting a goal target and focus on achieving the goal. Making this habit will help you understand a lot about your plans and how to achieve them. Please do not engage in all activities, set your priorities and make a difference in the task you do. Enter into that job, which gives you job satisfaction.
