Dr. Aniruddha Das is the Principal at the Calcutta Institute of Engineering and Management. He holds a Master’s degree and Ph.D in the Management discipline. Dr. Das possesses teaching experience both at UG and PG levels in teaching Accounts and Finance subjects to management students. He has published papers and attended conferences at both national and international levels.

Can you tell us about your experience in the education industry? 

“Being an educator I also learn and change with the young minds”

I do not just teach, I also motivate the students to explore their capabilities and move on towards their goals. By following this methodology students will be able to analyze their interests and move ahead in the field of their interest. 

Being a Principal of CIEM, what is your philosophy of leadership? 

“We create an environment that is conducive to learning”

As a Teacher In Charge of the Institute, I am proud of the faculty members of the institute as they are the pillars to build up the career of the students. Faculty members being subject experts are the leaders in their area of work. 

How does the curriculum of CIEM ensure the best practice of industry?

“We focus on Value Add Courses to make sure our students are well equipped with the industry”

At Calcutta Institute of Engineering and Management University, we follow the curriculum framed by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal. We follow a blended curriculum whereby we focus on academic theory and industry requirements to bridge the Industry-Academia Gap.

What steps CIEM has taken in order to tackle the COVID-19 situation and ensure continued education?

“We have increased usage of digital forms to teach our students”

We are already accustomed with COVID 19 Teaching methodology which was initially a bit challenging. We are conducting our classes digitally, the transition from the classroom to digital has been difficult nevertheless we have welcomed it. We have adapted our digital classroom and at the beginning of the session, we conduct bridge courses so that our students are comfortable with their subjects.

What would you like people to know about CIEM they may not know?

“We regularly organize one-to-one sessions of the students and faculty”

In the heart of the city, CIEM is one of the best places to work and a conducive environment for learning to be associated with. For students, a great place of learning, where they can experience holistic learning academics as well as industry. We invite some of the best academicians and industry speakers to interact with students, and we have a team of full-time and visiting faculty.

What do you see as your Institute's greatest strengths?

“Our Institute's greatest strengths are our students”

The students studying in our institute are an asset for the institute. We see our alumni well established and settled in different parts of the country and the world. So, the education we are providing to our students is our college’s real strength. 

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

“Focus on learning and developing new skills” 

My suggestion to the current generation is to fix up a goal in your life, go ahead slowly towards your goal and overcome distraction. Engage yourself in productive activities that will be a valuable addition to your career. Focus on learning subjects and developing skills instead of scoring up only Grades in the examinations.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute? 

“Our campus is completely ragging free and we believe in gender equality”

The campus is the second home for the students they learn as well as they enjoy within the campus. We make sure that students feel safe and at comfort in the college, several activities and cultural events are organized in the college for the comfort of students.
