Mr. Gargi Shankar Verma is working as a Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Columbia Institute of Engineering & Technology. He completed his B.Tech with Computer Science and Engineering Department and M.Tech in Computer Technology. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in Computer Technology. He has 17 years of experience in teaching as well in the research area.

What is the main objective of your institute?

“To provide a best educative environment to students”

We always focus on quality education, hence we provide practical knowledge to our students and also offer them family-like atmosphere in the institute. Our main aim is to resolve students’ queries then and there and to make them capable of standing unique within the crowd by focusing on their overall personality development along with the required technical skillset.

Which best practices are offered by the college to the students to enhance their skills?

“We provide various technical activities and training programs for our students”

We do provide internships, Seminars and placements as these enable our students to gain first-hand exposure to working in the real world. It also allows them to harness the skills, knowledge and theoretical practice they learned in university. The great thing about internships is that it teaches young professionals about the specific industries and companies requirements they might be interested in.

How does your college help to keep students physically fit?

“We do have various kinds of sports activities to freshen their mind and body”

We provide all kinds of facilities for our students to keep them physically fit. We do have sports teachers to guide them in sports they like to play and our teachers do organize various activities on a regular basis to ensure that students don’t get bored. We have a huge ground on which students can play which makes our children happy and motivates them to work hard.

What do you think should be the university’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“To help our students grow personally and professionally in every possible way”

According to me, Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. Classwork and learning are time-consuming, but making your education and coursework a priority creates a valuable habit that will continue to serve students well in your professional life. Our future goal is to provide a bright future for our students, to give them all the new techniques, facilities so that they only have to focus on their studies.

When you first came to this university, what was the vision?

“To provide the best education to students”

From the day I first joined this institute till now, I have had the same vision i.e. "Spreading Knowledge to bring the opportunities that can make a difference in student’s life. If you have the knowledge you will always feel confident, which is very important in today’s world.

Any suggestions you would like to give to current youth and aspiring students?

“Plan your path as per your skills and be patient”

In my interaction with today’s youth I have observed that many of them are getting attracted towards quick success. My appeal to today’s youth is to first understand their potential and for that they need to put in sincere efforts including connecting with the right mentors. Then, they need to plan step by step for their career path. In today’s time there are more opportunities that also creates confusion to students, therefore the need to stay focused is much more today when there are more distractions.
