Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies

Mr. Mohit Mathur is the PRO at Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies. Having a penchant for developing the institution and making students progressive, he shares his views on the education sector. He mentions why it is necessary to connect emotionally with everyone. Read here what he has to say in his interview.

How do you plan and strategize the activities to increase the students' outreach?

“To connect emotionally with the students is a pivotal aspect”

I have noticed that the resources have focused almost exclusively on various teaching and learning centres and instructional technology groups, on the how’s of technology: tools to record lectures, create discussions and proctor exams. Yet while the technological know-how to virtually connect with our students is necessary, it is not sufficient to continue the teaching and learning endeavour. Beyond the electronic connection, we need to connect emotionally -- especially in times of anxiety and uncertainty.

When you first came to GITS, what was your vision and how do you try to achieve them?

“The mission statement is more actionable than the vision statement”

The mission statement leads to strategic goals. Strategic goals are the broad goals the organization will try to achieve. By describing why the organization exists, and where and how it will compete, the mission statement allows leaders to define a coherent set of goals that fit together to support the mission. My efforts to fulfill the GITS mission and vision i. e. to nurture the students to become employable graduates who can provide solutions to the societal issues through ICT.

“The students' energy, love, and passion are infectious, and we are so grateful for all they do to make us something great. High-quality teaching and the availability of merit scholarships were two of the most critical factors.”

How does curriculum of GITS ensures the practical approach towards a program and make it industry oriented?

“Industrial tie ups to enhance the skill based learning for the students”

Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies is the first institute and the only college in the Udaipur which is professionally run by corporate industry and we also have tie ups with industries to enhance the skills of our students and make them industry ready. We also focus on practical based learning of the students and for that we have established AR/VR Lab and a dedicated Machine Learning lab in our institute and also students gets the opportunity to work on the various software and projects related to Robotics and Automation, Construction Management, Design and Analysis etc.

What are your goals for the next five year for the institute?

“Support a rich and diverse classroom and college culture that fuels a passion for lifetime learning”

I aim to increase the relevance of instruction to student needs, both personally and in the workplace. Exercise due diligence to ensure that we provide an excellent academic curriculum based on sound analysis of students' needs and future employers, which is workforce-driven.

Improve educational attainment levels in the region by: 1) Increasing the ease of higher education access; 2) Assisting students in identifying life and academic goals and to plan pathways to attain goals;3) Embracing technologies and modes of delivery that can be successfully utilized by students; and4) Building on workforce partnerships and increased coordination with regional secondary education institutions to improve college readiness. Increase student success rates across all disciplines while maintaining academic rigor and quality educational outcomes.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to the real world challenges?

“Allow the growth and success of every student through developing their inter-disciplinary learning”

To provide a wide range of exposure to the students of GITS besides the academics we have give opportunity to the students through various sports, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to develop the quality of leadership, management and most importantly of being a team player, which helps our students to stand apart from the crowd in the real world competition. We have established Entrepreneur Development Cell (EDC) at GITS to enhance and promote the entrepreneurship culture in our institute.
