Mrs. Dr J Sofia bobby is an Assistant Professor of the Jerusalem College Of Engineering, Chennai. She started her career as a lecturer in Electronics & Communication Engineering, after acquiring her B.E. Degree in 2002. She pursued research at the Centre for Medical Electronics, Anna University, Chennai, where she acquired her M.E medical Electronics and Ph.D degrees. With great passion towards the teaching profession, she has been mentoring and educating hundreds of future engineers over the last 20 years at UG levels. Of the numerous academic courses handled, Signals & Systems, Biomedical Instrumentation, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Equipments, Digital Image Processing and Radiological Equipments are her forte. She has constantly upgraded and shared her knowledge in these areas through several seminars, workshops and NPTEL Courses. She has presented her works at several National or International Seminars & Conferences and published several research papers in reputed International Journals.
You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“Teaching and research connects me with the education sector”
Teaching and research are my passions. As a Professor, I don’t just teach students. I also have to keep upskilling and learn the current trends in Biomedical discipline
What is your philosophy of leadership and describe your leadership style?
“Provide instruction to my team and meet the institute's needs”
I will provide my team with instruction and action to meet the needs of the Institute. I will behave with decisiveness, authority and power.
How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing or administration of campus?
“Social media, user-generated posts, branding, and video marketing are key programs for campus marketing”
We market the campus plans through social media, user-generated posts and branding. Student-focused marketing, video marketing, data-based marketing and class enrolment promotions are organized on campus.
The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying on campus?
“Focused on practicals rather than theory”
We focused more on practical hands-on than theory on campus. It improvises the skills of pupils as per industrial trends.
How does the curriculum of campus ensure the best practice of industry?
“Focus on outcome based education on campus for students”
Our college follows an outcome based education by developing course plan with objectives and outcome.

Diversity awareness training is given to pupils. Incorporation of diversity in lesson plans is the primary key of campus.

My duty to universities is as repositories and generators of knowledge. The obligation to equip graduates so that they can obtain viable employment. The obligation to offer rational and timely criticism in areas of public policy through social and economic life.
What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?
“Focus on distance education, convergence of formal and informal distance are our top priority”
In future colleges and universities, low stress should be the primary part of education. There should also be a focus on distance education, convergence of formal and informal distance and IT education institutions.
When you first came to campus, what was your vision for the university?
“To innovate the campus into the next level of growth is my primary vision”
My vision is the success of campus among the nation. Innovative and inspiring ideas are the most successful organizations that will put people first and stay in the future.
What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?
“Placement and research are the vital parts of university people must know”
The most important factor when considering a college is placement and research domain. We conduct placement drives for pupils each year.

“Research, trained faculties and management are our greatest strengths”
Research and dedicated well trained teaching faculty is our primary strength. Smart students and management are other strengths of campus.

What are some plans that you’re currently designing for campus and students?

Planning a career in international affairs is our primary goal. Another one is implementation of new courses for pupils on campus.
How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment on campus?
“Maintain a positive attitude towards each other and celebrate all events on campus”
Positive attitude brings out academic achievement. We motivate students to learn about newer technology. A friendly environment is available on campus by organizing each events.
