Rajan Sharma is the Assistant Professor of Mechanical Branch of Engineering at Rustamji Institute of Technology, BSF Academy Tekanpur, Gwalior. He obtained his B.E in Mechanical Engineering, MBA in Marketing and HR, and his M.E. degree in the area of Production Industrial System. He is a member of the Quality Circle Forum in India. His Research area is Production Engineering. He has received the Excellence award by SRIJAN Bhopal, Received Appreciation Cards from Commandant/CA CSMT/RJIT, Principal RJIT.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Providing Students with well-designed curriculum for their overall development”

I usually draw plans, schedule, and organize Lectures and Practicals for the students. I Complete the syllabi in the subjects on time and provide notes, assignments. I do Prepare Lecture Plans/ Lecture Materials/ Course Materials. Conduct two internal Tests/Mid sem Tests during each semester in my subjects. I always encourage students to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities like working on some projects related to their curriculum and other than the same.These days I am motivating the students to work with some NGOs too so that they will develop too many qualities and get exposure to their personalities. I motivate the students to Participate in professional development activities. To take all needful steps for Research and Development towards establishing a Centre of Excellence. To take up a Collaborative program with leading organizations by exchange of know -hows and in turn help placement.

How do you make the subjects industry-oriented?

“Providing students with industrial visits to gain practical experience”

Undoubtedly these days, there is a deep gap between the theoretical and on-field knowledge related to the subject as I teach Entrepreneurship and management concepts, Total Quality Management, Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics, ERP. The nature of these subjects is different from other conventional subjects of Mechanical Engineering, these subjects are 100% practically used in the corporate world. So I always teach these subjects with the help of corporate case studies and also relate these subjects and introduce the students to the strategic changes introduced in the corporate world. Some of our mechanical Engineering students have gone for their startups during their bachelor's degrees. We follow the curriculum of RGPV University Bhopal at RJIT and regarding the same we organize the Industrial Training of one month at any Industry in India and we develop our students as an entrepreneur by developing the entrepreneurial skills with the help of expert lectures, workshop’s, etc. 

What will you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?

“Best Practices includes Career Monitoring, Live Projects, and Online Lectures”

We, through our Mechanical Engineering Department, organize Expert Lectures, workshops by inviting Industry personals, renowned Professors from Renowned institutes regularly for our students in each semester for all the years of Mechanical Engineering. Also, we organize Tech-fest and create technical clubs like SAE BAJA INDIA, QUAD-TORC, ROBOLUTION, SLVC, etc. In which students produce their off-road vehicles in institutes production labs and participate and win many national level championships. I provide market-related information to the students to provide the necessary information by which the students develop entrepreneurial skills. We have AUDI Lab at our Institute where we trained our students in Mechanical Engineering and their placement is also done.

How does the Rustamji Institute of Technology enhance the skills of the faculty?

“Providing Faculty with FDP Programs to prepare them according to industry standard”

This is the strongest vertical of Rustamji Institute of Technology, BSF Tekanpur, that to enhance the skills, Institute motivates the faculties to join various FDP’s organized by various Institutes/universities. As most of the faculties here are from IIT’s, NIT’s Alumni so we also organize the in-house FDP’s.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students?

“Providing Students with Aptitude and Communication Skills Classes”

In this regard we at Rustamji Institute of Technology, BSF Tekanpur always encourage the students to go for higher education via various competitive examinations like GRE for MS from other countries and so many students have secured admissions to various renowned universities of the world for higher education. 

Also, I proudly like to add that during the pandemic time our institute did excellent work for the placements of the students and I like to say that we are having the best and maximum placements opportunities for our students to offer.

We offer extra classes for aptitude, communication skills, and various training like personality development.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition?

What was your vision for the institute from the start and how are you implementing it?

“Making Students a universally accepted product from the raw phase”

As I want to be an educator by profession so I completed all the requirements to be an educator. And I am very thankful to the management of this institute to select me to serve here, when I came here, I was having the vision to uplift the Rustamji Institute of Technology, BSF Tekanpur by delivering my skills to our main clients i.e, students by making them a universally accepted product from the raw phase.

What do you see as the College’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

“Discipline is the greatest strength of the College”

As this Rustamji Institute of Technology, BSF Tekanpur belongs to Border Security Force so the greatest strength for this institute is Discipline among the Faculties, Staff as well as students. The chairman of this institute is Director General BSF, Vice-Chairman is ADG BSF Academy Tekanpur and Chief Administrator is DIG CSMT BSF Academy Tekanpur.

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students?

“Providing Students with extracurricular programs for Exposing them to real-world challenges”

Yes, Very nice question, we have too many extracurricular activities for the skill enhancement of our students as we have NCC for them both for boys and girls, we have SAE BAJA INDIA club, ROBOLUTION club, SLVC club, etc wherein students by participation can enhance their teamwork, managerial, decision making, technical and communication skills and also various personality attributes.
