Mr. Gaurav Saxena is the Assistant Professor at RJIT, Border Security Force Academy. He emphasizes on leading a disciplined life to achieve the greatest heights. Read what he has to say in his interview. 

How does the curriculum of RJIT College ensure the best practice of industry?

“Providing assistance in terms of industry standards”

Training labs under Industrial MOU with MNC’s like LG and AUDI India assists students to learn the latest technologies. Besides this students receive training at MHA training centers situated in the BSF academy itself: CSMT (Central school of motor transport) and CENWOSTO (Central workshop and stores). We make sure to organize regular industrial visits which is a part of faculty appraisal and student assessment. This institute has an NPTEL chapter for the training of students by IITs faculties where the outstanding students get a chance for internships at foreign universities and IITs.

When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

“To take the institution to the greatest heights”

When I first came to RJIT my vision was to work for the development of the institute and students. It is attained by the following results:

  • As a faculty advisor established SAE collegiate club at RJIT.
  • As a trainer since 2015 in industrial MOU with AUDI-India under VGTAP for training and direct recruitment of students.
  • The faculty advisor of the student team participating and winning 1st rank in All India SAE completion like BAJA and SUPRA.
  • Initiated M.Tech course in 2011 in automobile and presently working as coordinator of the course.

What do you see the college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

“Being the first of its kind”

The greatest strength of the institution is its identity as India’s first and only engineering institute governed by paramilitary forces and the disciplined environment under BSF administration. The Institute is named after the founder father of BSF Late Sh.K.F. Rustamji. It can be enhanced by maintaining its legacy by providing excellent service to students and make them fit to work in any sector.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with students and fellow faculty?

“Forming a bond that is full of transparency and trust”

All the faculties in our college are highly educated and experienced. We have mutual respect towards each other and so a healthy and happy relationship is a by-product. Every student has a different set of qualities. Understanding them and helping them to grow helps to establish a good bond with students.

In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here?

“A pool of opportunities and maximum exposure”

The factors which attract industrial MOU and students to our institute are:

  • The disciplined environment due to its location under India’s biggest training academy of BSF.
  • Governing body of the institute having chairman as DG, BSF Delhi.
  • Students from PAN-India study together, due to 50% of seats reserved for CAPF (central armed paramilitary forces). The student studying here gets connected with the traditions and culture followed across the nation.
  • MOU with companies viz. LG, AUDI, etc. for training and placement of the students.
  • Due to self-finance non-profit institute students avail the free facilities of NKN (National Knowledge Network) and Google Gsuite.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Witnessing our students prosper in different fields”

Presently I am working as an Assistant professor in the department of Automobile engineering, since 1st Sep 2010. Besides this, I am also looking after the charge of trainer in the Volkswagen technical apprenticeship program (VGTAP) for Audi vehicle since 2015. The respect and satisfaction achieved in society and having students in each and every service sector of the nation keeps me deeply connected to this sector.
