Dr. K Thulasivelu is the Director of RVS Institute of Management Studies and Research, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He serves as an Associate Professor in the Finance/HR stream of RVS IMSR, Sulur. He has worked in the industry for nearly 14 years after graduation. Moreover, he has completed M.Phil and SET in Management. Working capital trends of select Two and Three-wheeler companies in India is one of his publications. His presentation on Impact of Globalisation for Profitability in the Banking Sector is a notable one.
What are the key factors that connected you with the education sector?
“To share the Industry experience and practices with students who can have a better understanding of the Industry expectations”
I worked in the industry for 15 years at the initial stage. I want to share my industrial experience with the students. To be more practical is a prime part of the career. How Technology upgradation helps the companies to reduce costs and increase their profits. Moreover, I have worked with different firms and companies to understand how companies work professionally and withstand themselves in the competition. Later on I upgraded myself in academics, which helped me to enter into the academics where again research and learnings were part till now.
What is your philosophy of leadership?
“To guide the youth for taking titles and responsibilities”
In my opinion, leadership is guiding the younger generation on helping them choose their right path.. As a leader, help students to take challenging roles where a whole new skillset is required. Make them bold enough to take big titles and responsibilities on the go. Also to maintain a good team of faculties who provide a good space for all.
How does the curriculum of your college ensure best industrial practices?
“By establishing tie-ups with industries and understanding the requirements of the Industry”
We update our syllabuses regularly based on the changes that happen in the industry. Moreover, we have tie-ups with the industries who update us regularly for all subject domains. They share their ideas, views, and changes that are happening in the industries through meetings which we hold during finalizing our syllabuses and curriculum. Hence, we are able to deliver our students what the industry demands and prepare them accordingly.
How is your university welcoming to students of different economic backgrounds?
“Provide real service for all levels of students equally”
We did not charge a high fee in the pandemic situation. Our institution reduced and followed the norms and guidelines of the government. We provide real service without comprising on the quality of delivery to all levels of students equally. Most proficient faculty are hired by our college. We look into the society and its members without any partiality.

“To ensure the vision and goals of management for students' academics”
We try to deliver the vision, mission of our management and achieve their goals with real commitment. We make our student’s Industry ready. Moreover, we deliver basic knowledge in business concepts and also make them technology-enabled, so that they can manage today’s complex problems in the businesses with the available data and with the application of the right technology it helps them to arrive at actual situation/understanding based on which they can take their decisions accurately. It would help the organization to take the right decisions and plan further.
What do you think about the top priority of the RVS Institute of Management Studies & Research over the next 10 years?
“To maintain practical exposure for the betterment of the institution”
Changes happen in the industry continuously, business models are changing nowadays. The institutions should get updated and be ready for the changes that happen in the industry. It is necessary to update the curriculum on a regular basis. Practical exposure in terms of Internship may be provided to the students. Plan for more Industry interactions, researches and innovation. Promote Entrepreneurship. This is how the Institution has to plan for the coming years.
What is your vision for the university?
“To build a team and support the growth of the institution”
My Institution is promoting Tech-MBA courses as of now. The vision is clear i.e., the industry models are changing and our students are prepared for the changes. Our deliverables are quite challenging hence to build a team that could achieve the vision of our Institution with their fullest involvement.

Youth should have ideas and information about industry operations before going for admissions in professional courses like MBA. Business-related knowledge is essential.
