You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What keeps you connected with the Education Sector and how has your experience been so far with the institute?

“To provide employment, entrepreneurship as well as research orientation in education for students connects me with the education sector”

Education sector in India is continuously evolving with the research conducted, emerging technologies, policy reforms that are taking place for the wellbeing of human society through education, nurturing the brains of the new generation, and inclusiveness of the educational implementation at all the levels of society etc. All these make the education sector more prominent and a social development tool in the present century. We need to have educational campuses that should provide employment, entrepreneurship as well as research orientation for intellectual development of students. Being associated with campus since the last one and half decade, I have experienced the uniqueness towards Management Education. MBA and MCA students not only learn business or IT education but also prepare for the social responsibilities. It is necessary to emerge new social leaders in all walks of life.

Being the HoD of Dr. Moonje Institute of Management and Computer studies, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To plan curricular programs, skill sets, and professional or individual needs of students are my responsibilities”

In the business management institutes, students should be developed from various angles like individual, professional, social, national and global arenas. While causing their all-round development, the duty of HOD is to take care about their mentorship. The classroom education is not enough for the PG students. Hence, we plan various curricular activities in and outside the classroom. Though it is necessary to follow the University curriculum, we take all the care to inculcate the necessary skills among the students. So, they can handle their all-professional responsibilities. I take all the care of their mentoring. Students get their separate teacher as Mentor for the entire progress. It also helps to solve their academic/behavioral problems and encourages them to participate in the teams. All these are helpful in maintaining the academic campus.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to the real- world challenges?

“Summer internships, projects, industrial sessions and more are provided to pupils”

In the academic practices, we expect students to understand the theoretical concepts in the class and implement them in the real-life business scenario. Apart from the MBA or MCA curriculum, we provide experience to students in interacting with the Best Industrialists. It motivates the students to start their own business. In the Incubation and Research Centre of the Institute, students get all necessary help in starting their business projects. Our students learn all the practical lessons from summer internships projects. They get all the exposure to interact with the industrial functions and learn more.

How does the curriculum of Dr. Moonje Institute of Management and Computer studies ensure that the students are being prepared for the future?

“Organize several bridge courses, workshops, technical certificate programs and more for pupils”

Our campus follows S.P. Pune University curriculum for MBA and MCA Programs. We provide all the specializations offered in the curriculum. Our curriculum is updated every three academic years and tries to fulfill the skills demands of the industries. However, Dr. Moonje Institute tries to fulfill the gap between the curriculum and the skill set of current HR demand of the corporates. We conduct various bridge courses for the students to make them more industry ready. Our students get financial workshops, marketing related activities, some basic administrative tools like Excel, Power Point, the technical certifications like six sigma, SPSS etc. It can enhance students' employability with these certifications.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

“Real-time case studies, industry expert sessions, and follows an academic calender for students on campus”

We design the academic calendar at the beginning of every academic year. Our teachers follow their teaching plans for every allotted course. In the teaching plan, classroom sessions with practical and tutorial are organized. The theoretical concepts in the subjects are learned by the students through the real-time case studies in Indian as well as global perspectives. There is a Master Class for the students by the industry experts to learn the real-life cases and their solutions. Every teacher tries to plan industry expert sessions to cover almost 20% of their syllabus. This brings the students more practical life. Every Saturday, the institute plans Industry Samvaad as an expert series to gain corporate insight among the students.

What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to train/teach the students?

“Follows value added courses, case studies, model based learning and overall evaluation process in campus”

Our curriculum is taken as the foundation for the functional development of the students. At the same time, it is necessary to equip the necessary skill set that can fulfill the practical requirement of the curriculum. Considering the overall development of the students, various value-added courses, workshops, and programs are organized for the students. In the classroom teaching, our teachers also encourage participative learning methods. Case studies and caselets are one of the mandatory parts of their teaching learning process to get model based learning. We rigorously follow Bloom's Taxonomy in conducting the sessions and completing the overall evaluation process.

What would you like people to know about your institute they may not know?

“Develop business leaders with a global vision and Indian values”

Students in the institute are getting not only the curricular knowledge but also special efforts in developing the business leaders with Indian values and global vision. Our campus expects the students to reflect themselves as a national character. Value system of the military education campus exerts discipline and patriotism among the students.

What do you see as the greatest strengths of Dr. Moonje Institute of Management and Computer studies?

“Professional education, good placement records and qualified mentors are our greatest strengths”

Practical approach in the professional education, and good placement record in IT are our greatest strengths. Business students along with the safe campus for the girls are some of the prominent things that students prefer in taking admissions in Dr. Moonje Institute. Apart from this, qualified and consistent teachers are also the strength of the Institute. The Education society is moving towards its 100 years of education and value system in India. Our campus is gloriously existing from the British era and still continuing to serve the educational needs of the society. The ultimate reflection of this can be seen in the policy formulation and implementation at Dr. Moonje Institute.

What are the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Dr. Moonje Institute of Management and Computer studies specifically?

“Implementation of new education policy is the greatest challenge for us”

The implementation of the new Education policy is bringing drastic changes in higher education in the times to come. However, it will be a tough job for the higher educational institution to cater the demand of the students in versatile subject buckets. Educational policy will surely encourage the multi-disciplinary knowledge among the students. But, implementation in the same classroom will become difficult for the colleges. There will be some sort of challenges to the single faculty colleges. Our campus has an opportunity to join hands with the Bhonsala Military campus, which has been an educational heritage since the British era.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

“Be skilled, grab new opportunities and focus on your career”

There is a tremendous potential in the Indian youth. Though the employment opportunities are increasing at present, the quality of workforce that is required to handle the job profile are very less. This situation highlights the need for a skilled workforce with higher education. It is also important to know the necessity of Management education in each and every sector in India. There are a lot of opportunities for the youth after the MBA and MCA education. It helps to direct the students to focus on the opportunities in this education. However, it is important to mention that the students should grab the education with full devotion. Output of the pure education will definitely enhance the career of the students in future rather than just taking the degree without knowledge.
