Dr Pooja Jain is the Director of Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS). Dr. Jain has been associated with JIMS, Rohini since 2002 in various capacities as lecturer, associate professor and professor. With more than 17 years of experience that includes both academic and corporate, she is actively involved in teaching, research and training, in areas related to consumer behavior, Sales management and rural marketing. In the interview she mentions the various modern teaching methods the institute has incorporated, and how they harness the knowledge and expertise of all stakeholders. The alumni play a pivotal role in marketing strategy for the institution, and the institute firmly believes in building a robust foundation for corporate interface. Additionally, she highlights her roles and responsibilities and how they plan to increase their international visibility, which is a part of her role as well. She then moves on to further explain the greatest strength of the institution and how they overcome and tackle the hurdles when they arrive. My role is to guide the Institution to create an effective learning environment for students and faculty
JIMS has come a long way from its humble beginning and has carved a niche for itself among the top management institutions in Northern India. As the Director, my major role is to ensure that the functioning of our Institute is guided by the vision, mission, and program objectives which have been collaboratively designed by all its stakeholders through a structured participative process.
We will emphasize on adapting innovative curriculum, using interactive pedagogy, more intense industry-interface and increasing global alliances to build and enrich the competencies of the faculty and students. We engage our faculty in academic research, corporate training and industry consultancy assignments for keeping them abreast with times. We make sure that students are selected through a rigorous process for all programs offered and they are encouraged for experimenting new ideas, pursuing entrepreneurial aspirations, undertaking industry projects and enhancing their knowledge through various academic and non-academic activities. To sum it up my role would be to guide the Institution to create an effective learning environment for students and faculty.
We are planning to increase our international visibility, deliver high quality value based programs to educate the students
We, at JIMS, are committed to bring in the changes required to sustain and grow in the higher education industry. Till date, we have taken some important steps in this direction; however, other broad-based and cross-disciplinary initiatives are also needed on which we will work on: Increasing International visibility, Deliver High-Value, Technology integrated Business programs to Educate, Increase faculty interaction with outside world through research, consultancy, longer duration MDP, workshops, FDPs, IPR’s, Strengthen Relationships and Expand Partnerships with Industry/Corporate which are already being done but need more emphasis in current changing times.

A problem can be solved with the same consciousness that created it. The way the Industry needs to change is time that we learn to see the world, and thus education in a new way. We need to develop students for lifelong learning so that they cope with the technological and social changes brought by the industry. Also Nowadays there is an immense need to bring students into ‘start-up culture’ and provide a platform where they can convert their bright ideas into innovation. We need to continuously learn and update the education system to say relevant
The biggest challenge for today’s youth is to be creative
Today, the biggest challenge for the current youth is to be creative. Therefore, I would suggest that everyone should try to learn and have a lifelong willingness to face new challenges and learn to adapt to changes. Be ambitious and do not be afraid to take risks, once you will fail then only you will recognize your potential. Believe in yourself!
