What is your philosophy of leadership?

“As a leader, I excel at sharing information, understanding the needs and guiding others”

Leadership should be about taking everyone along with you. It is crucial for a leader to feel equal to the employees of the company. It is imperative that the leader herself sets a good example so her employees will respect her.

My own background as a professor means I often face tough decisions in order to move the organization forward. I believe in understanding the needs and characteristics of the group and evaluating shared leadership and learning.

What do you think your responsibilities to the institute and the students are?

“Our goal is to help students progress as learners and achieve their full potential”

We want to enable students to achieve their full potential as learners and encourage them to continue their pursuit of becoming independent individuals with strong self-motivation.

Broadly speaking my roles and responsibilities are following:-

  • To immerse students in a completely technical environment.
  • Assisting the students in any trouble they have.
  • To instill confidence in the students.
  • In addition to supporting the students, I also give them advice.
  • Be a good teacher at all times.
  • Finding out what type of education would be best for the student based on their mindset.

What do you think should be the institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Our mission is to become the largest higher education institute in the region”

We aim to be the largest institute in the region offering a wide range of higher education programs and professional courses. The administration will be made student and teacher-friendly. It will be a priority to introduce course topics that are socially relevant and job-oriented in the colleges. The University will explore faculty and student exchange programs at the national level. Co-curricular activities will be encouraged. Furthermore, we will streamline the process of visits by scholars and reduce red tape.

What do you like people to know about your institute they may not know?

“We encourage self-learning and participation in extracurricular activities”

In our school, we encourage self-learning, sports, games, social skills, culture, and technical skills. Since we are a girls' institute, we employ security guards round the clock, as well as installing CCTV cameras throughout our campus to ensure their safety.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

"Believing in yourself is the key to success in life"

Today's students need a wide range of skills, academic skills alone are not sufficient. Additionally, students should develop skills and knowledge that can meet the demands of a changing world. Success depends entirely on one's preparation, efforts, hard work, determination and perseverance. Success comes when you trust yourself.

What do you see as MIT’s greatest strengths?

Also, the campus of MIT is gorgeous and it's in the centre of Dehradun, making it one of the best locations in India.

What are some of the biggest challenges for the higher education sector?

“Focus should be placed on developing skills and practical knowledge”

The Indian education system lacks practical knowledge. The reason there is so much unemployment in India is that most graduates are not industry-ready. These days, students are under a lot of stress as they struggle to get a job along with a theoretical curriculum based on deadlines. For stress relief and to promote a culture of cooperation, Institutes should encourage group-based tasks, cultural activities, and sports. Students sometimes face stressful situations in our institute due to periodic exams and placement pressure. We at the faculty make constant efforts to understand the problems faced by students and help them, but we still have a long way to go.
