Ganpat University

Ms.Remi Mitra is the Chairman of the Center of Entrepreneurship at Ganpat University. She puts her prime focus on molding and shaping young minds to be successful entrepreneurs who make the best use of the available resources.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“To contribute to social upliftment through education”

I lead the education activities at Ganpat University Centre for Entrepreneurship from the forefront. A key role of our center is to drive innovation, with the aim of finding solutions to global challenges in areas that matter to society, such as healthcare, environmental protection, resource security, international development, and population trends. In addition, broad employability skills help graduates give employers precisely what they need: technologically-minded workers who are flexible, organized, and resourceful. Another key factor that keeps me connected to the education sector, especially higher education, is the opportunity it creates for upskilling existing workforces. As digitization changes the landscape for working professionals, higher education can provide them with the opportunity to enhance their existing knowledge and learn new skills.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“Including everyone in my personal journey of developing the institution”

Well, my leadership philosophy is reflected a lot in the kind of work I am engaged with today. The opportunities for entrepreneurship education are intersecting across all the domains of Industry/Sector. It’s the realization of its potential which gives me a strong vision and also the power to inspire others to collaborate and make the center achieve its goals. In fact, what we offer at the center is a basket of business opportunities across all verticals of the industry. A lot of my work is involved in motivating and inspiring students to pursue the entrepreneurial journey. I encourage faculties and teachers across various disciplines to handhold and mentor students thereby offering an intimate entrepreneurial ecosystem. It’s more like my own entrepreneurial journey with the center. I personally demand a high level of productivity and involvement from all my colleagues.

What do you see as Ganpat University’s greatest strengths?

“Encouraging the students to be the ones who generate employment opportunities”

Ganpat University offers various unique, quality, industry-linked, and sector-focused programs to enhance employability. It is also aimed at creating a conducive ecosystem to nurture and develop start-ups and entrepreneurs. Today young technocrats are also looking out for opportunities to exploit their full potential by setting up their own ventures thus becoming "job generators" rather than "job seekers". This entails systemic interventions and new instruments, which could facilitate the development and growth of new ventures by technologies. The establishment of the Centre for Entrepreneurship (CE) was one such initiative taken by Ganpat University which is dedicated to advance knowledge and educate students in entrepreneurship. The MBA Start-Up and Entrepreneurship offered by Ganpat University is a full-time two‐year program. They get a detailed comprehensive view of entrepreneurial qualities. It helps them contribute towards either starting their own company, innovate current jobs as an Intrapreneur, or operate the family business more efficiently and effectively.

How does Ganpat University ensure the best practices of the industry?

“Developing additional courses to enhance the entrepreneurial skills”

For a full-time degree course, we offer MBA Start-up and Entrepreneurship which is scientifically developed to prepare students to launch their start-up within 2 years. It offers a greater concentration on applying management tools and concepts in real life. Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Be self-reliant individuals with capabilities to turn a situation around”

To the current youth and aspiring students, I would definitely want to say that this is the time of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ where the spirit of self-reliance is really evident. Again one needs to understand that more than 100 million and more Indian jobs will be at risk during and after the pandemic stage. One needs to understand that when unemployment is high and the economy is stagnating, dynamic entrepreneurship could help turn the economy around. By developing novel products new firms can boost demand creating new job opportunities and reduce unemployment.
