Dr. Amit Jain is the Pro-Vice Chancellor in the Amity University, Jaipur. He holds a Ph.D from Sardar Patel University and FDP from IIM Ahmedabad. Prof. Amit conducted various training programs for executives of organizations including IDBI Bank, Bank of Baroda, BKT Tyres, JK Tyre, JK Lakshmi Cement, Claris life Sciences, Veeda Clinical Research, Natraj Foods, and more. His interested areas are Research, Training, Marketing Strategy, Sales Management, Digital Marketing, Marketing Communications, Retail Management and Entrepreneurship. He is a National Council Member, and Editorial Board Member of Indian Journal of Training and Development. He has several publications and research papers at National and International conferences.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

We cater to the needs and expectations of all stakeholders. My responsibility is to facilitate and strengthen the processes to achieve excellence in all areas of Knowledge creation. I ensure our research and academic endeavors contribute to society. We give a supportive environment that facilitates creativity and innovation of students. Rich Interdisciplinary Curriculum, Industry Connect, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship assist students to convert their innovative ideas.


How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Give opportunities to improve and develop students' careers by imparting positive relationships with faculties”

Greatest resource for educational organization is human capital that supports the learning and delivery process of students. We build a positive relationship with faculty, and students become successful in the organization.It starts from getting to know each other during formal/informal meetings and establishing an emotional connection. I formulated a practice of monthly structured meetings with faculties and students. They can share their concerns and suggestions. Students have access to an online intranet portal to provide suggestions to authorities at any time. I emphasize on providing opportunities to develop students' careers, process team spirit through gatherings, and keep employees engaged with their work. 


How do you bring a practical approach towards a subject as industry oriented?

“Focus on academic excellence through industry integration, experiential learning, innovative pedagogy, and research”

Our campus contains an industry Advisory Council composed of senior leaders from the industry. We held council meetings twice a year for every program of the University. Changes are made in the curriculum as per relevant feedback and line up with industry needs and expectations. We focus on academic excellence through industry integration, experiential learning, innovative pedagogy, and research. 


How do you strategize the curriculum for the students in Amity University, Jaipur?

“Revise programs in the curriculum and add contemporary subjects in UG programmes”

We give special consideration to regularly revising curriculum. Our campus regularly conducts Board of Studies Meetings and Industry Advisory Council meetings. We invite industry leaders and academic experts to review our syllabus. In addition, we add several inputs such as Data Analytics and Digital Marketing as specializations in our MBA program. We also give some contemporary subjects in UG programmes like Fintech and New Initiatives, Social Media Marketing, and Business Modeling Through Excel.

What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students in Amity University, Jaipur?

“Organize regular activities to brush up soft skills for student placement and give ample opportunities for higher education”

We have a dedicated team of experts who take care of the students placement and internship-related activities. Our campus conducts regular activities to brush up on their soft skills, personality development and general awareness. Students get ample opportunities to apply for higher education in India and abroad from campus. We follow incorporated subjects like analytical skill-building in the UG syllabus to face the competitive exams and entrance test for students. Our faculties mentor pupils for national and international exams like GATE, ILETS CAT, MAT, GRE, XAT, TOEFL and more. 


How do you help students to cope up with outside competition? 

“Keep revising our syllabus as per the industry norms, and run certain certification courses for pupils”

We give industry fundamentals for students to face the competition. They can emphasize on experiential learning. We invite industry experts across the globe to provide insight of industry relevance for students. Our campus runs certain certification courses from Amity University British Standard Institution (AUBSI) program and other skill base certifications. We keep on revising our syllabus as per the industry norms. Pupils are guided by a concerned subject expert before choosing the elective subject. 


Do you have any extracurricular activities/ to enhance the skills of the students to face real-world challenges?

“Organize activities by NSS, NCC, Legal Aid Cel, Techno-Cultural Fest and more for candidates”

We organize an Annual Techno-Cultural Fest called ODYSSEY every year. Primary objective is to polish the leadership and management skills of the students. We encourage students to participate in every program. Most events witness participation and interaction with celebrities from varied domains including film, art, culture, literature, media, etc. Several activities organized by NSS, NCC, Legal Aid Cell, and Societal connect initiatives like Unnat Bharat Abhiyan take place on campus. Annual Sports meet is organized every year with participation of several teams from all over the country. 


What challenges do you see for Amity University, Jaipur?

“Lack of time to cover the curriculum, unavailability of experts and teaching faculty”

One of the challenges is the lack of inclination of students to learn new skills. Another one is lack of time to cover the curriculum and other additional requirements. We also face unavailability of experts and teaching faculty in upcoming technologies. 


What approaches do you bring in apart from the curriculum to train the students? 

“Organize workshops, seminars, industrial visits, and other training for candidates”

Ourn incubation center is an active support ecosystem to inspire and mentor our students into budding entrepreneurs. We facilitate them in establishing a start-up to solve local, regional, and social problems. The student Entrepreneurship Cell conducts sessions and workshops to develop students' skills. Our campus organizes workshops, seminars, industrial visits, and other training for candidates. Students get entrepreneurial talent such as business planning, company formation, legal and IPR assistance, managerial support, technological support, financial support etc from the campus.
