What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"This field offers limitless opportunities to learn and interact with amazing minds"

Being in the education sector, I get tremendous opportunities to participate in a lot of conferences and paper presentations which are organized by different colleges and universities. And during these events, I get chances to interact with amazing people, faculties and young minds of different institutions. Also, this field offers me satisfaction and happiness when I educate and guide my students and help them to fix their academic and non-academic issues. So all these factors have collectively kept me associated with the education sector.

How does the curriculum of your college align with the best practices of industry?

"It is developed by University hence includes industry practices and requirements"

As we are affiliated to the MAKAUT which is the University of Technology, hence we follow the curriculum designed and updated by the University itself. Because being an affiliated institution, we don't have much freedom in its design. But to make our students corporate ready, we are free to collaborate with reputed industries and organizations and we are doing the same for bringing good employment opportunities for our students. Along with recruiting students for various profiles, these companies also arrange training programs as per their latest developments and requirements for our students.

How Covid pandemic affected the functioning and recruitment process of your college?

"It has affected us but we are slowly progressing to make things easier for students and teachers"

As far as the Covid pandemic, it has affected every section of our society and so we were also impacted during initial stages. But now the situation has improved a lot and many Universities and Institutions are shifting back from online to offline mode of teaching and learning. And students are also effectively using the hybrid modes of learning as they are enthusiastically participating in video events and programs organized by college. Even the companies who visit us for recruitment drives are initially taking students assessment in both online and offline modes. And this approach if will go the same way for next 1-2 years, definitely we will come back very strongly.

In your opinion, what challenges are there in the Engineering education field?

"Students and their parents perspective for opportunities of Engineering field is a real issue"

There is a general perception among the students and even their parents that studying Engineering will not help them much in today's time, as good jobs are not available in the corporate sector, but believe me if you are skilled enough you will have abundant opportunities to grow.. Hence, I would like to tell all our stakeholders, students and their parents to not worry much, as the only issue for now is the increasing number of colleges offering Engineering education, due to which quality of education and no. of good quality Engineers have reduced, but with proper planning and efforts these issues could be fixed. And students who will dedicatedly study their subjects during respective courses of Engineering have abundant job opportunities in the outside world, as we can't imagine a society without Engineers.

Any suggestions which you would like to share with the current youth and aspiring students?

"Don't get addicted to social media and phone and utilize your time in studies"

In today's digital and ever changing technological world, our students rarely see people who read newspapers or books, as people are getting addicted to their phone and especially to various social media handles, be it Instagram, Facebook or any other app. But there are also some apps which are really good from an educational point of view like YouTube where students can search and study any topic of their syllabus. But they need to remember that actual study demands practice through pen and paper, because only seeing a video lecture to understand a topic is not enough as you will not be able to retain the info for so long. Also, don't use social media or even your phone for too long, as it will destroy your precious time which you can effectively use for your studies. So I would advise them to define a study schedule and follow that rigorously.

When you joined GMIT, what was your vision for it and how far have you come in implementing them?

"Delivering quality education to students and making us a globally recognised institution was my aim"

My objective when I joined this amazing institute was to impart quality knowledge and training to students and make this institute one of the globally recognised institutions by continuously improving our educational practices. In addition to this, imparting technical education blended with cutting-edge technological tools, give practical insights and build confidence in students by exposing them to in-plant training, projects and internships so that they can understand and deliver the demands of today's industrial world not only on national but global level was my aspiration. And my vision has evolved over time and we are doing great things for the betterment of our college, as everyone from faculties to support staff work as a team and keep upgrading their skills and knowledge from time to time.
