Mr. Animesh Gayen has been working as an Assistant Professor of Electronics and Electrical Engineering Department at Chaibasa Engineering College, Chaibasa, Jharkhand from 2016. He has done B.Sc. in Physics from Vivekananda Science College, M.Sc in Physics from Rajabazar Science College and M.Tech in Electrical Engineering from University of Calcutta as part of his academics.

Being a Faculty of the EEE Department, what are your responsibilities towards the students?

"Providing good quality education to students, attending college events and guiding students for their projects are my responsibilities"

As a Faculty of the Electronics and Electrical Engineering Department, my role is a bit challenging but amazing as well at the same time. And I am responsible for representing our college in different conferences, providing academic support to students, attending faculty and departmental meetings and voicing concerns or providing suggestions for improvement, developing professional logistics to improve students skills and academic performance. In addition to this, I am responsible to guide, lead and mentor students for their projects, evaluate, monitor and mentor students progress, implement career-enhancement programs and activities for students benefits and supervise and support teaching assistants. And to stay in sync with everyone and every college activity, I remain active on Phone and Email so that I can respond to everyone's queries on time. 

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

"The vision and mission of our college is main pillar of our college strength"

The biggest strength of our college is our mission and vision of imparting quality education to students, making available a good education system, recruiting excellent trainers to educate and train students, developing the best environment in college and accelerating the education system of Bihar. And to enhance our strength, we should believe in our capabilities and contribute to the growth of our institute. 

What approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to teach the students?

"We all use different teaching-learning pedagogies to teach students and regularly interact with them"

Our faculty members use a wide variety of teaching techniques with different end goals to educate the students. And their main objective behind all this is to explore the interest and expertise of our students so that they can deliver the best content to them. Lastly, we follow the approach of explicit instruction to address and fix students' doubts and queries and guide them about various things.

How does your department enhance Faculty skills and prepare them as per industry standards?

"They are upskilled through FDPs and customized training programs"

For the purpose of enhancing the skills and competencies of our faculty members, skill enhancement programs are offered by us to them. In addition to this, customized training programs to upgrade the soft skills, counseling skills, interpersonal skills and lifelong learning skills of teachers are organized by us to help them in planning and conducting a proper assessment.

How does the curriculum of your department ensure the best practices of industry?

"Industry experts and academicians are directly involved in its planning and review phase"

We design and update the curriculum of our college by keeping in mind the employability skills which we have to develop in our students. Also, we take suggestions from our faculty members on the usefulness and effectiveness of the existing teaching materials and how we can improve them and students are involved in the review process for providing inputs on the learning efforts they need to put in and on an overall impression of the curriculum. Later on, eminent academicians and industry experts are regularly consulted to get an idea about the trends, development and requirements of the industrial and educational world.

When you joined this institute, what was your vision for it and how are you trying to achieve the same?

"My goal was to develop amazing professionals and ethically and socially responsible citizens"

My vision when I joined this amazing institute was to educate my students to be ethically and emotionally strong individuals, effective problem-solvers and life-long learners who can contribute positively to the economic well-being of our region and nation and who are prepared to tackle complex challenges of the outside world. And to achieve my goals, I am following the concept of summative and formative assessment.

How do you prepare your students to deal with the outside competitive world?

"We conduct self-conscious learning programs for students and motivate them to try new adventurous"

We organize self-awareness programs and provide work-integrated learning opportunities to students for preparing them for the outside competitive world. Also, whenever we interact with our students, we outline the objectives very clearly so that students should have a clear understanding of what they are going to learn. And we regularly motivate them about how to confidently deal with failures, learn from their mistakes and try new things by coming out of their comfort zone.
