Dr B. Dhanalaxmi is the Professor in the Department of Information Technology and Dean of Research and Development (R&D) at Institute of Aeronautical Engineering, Hyderabad. She obtained Doctorate in Computer Science and Engineering and has guided several projects for UG and PG students of the institute. As a researcher, she has more than 20 publications in National and international journals and conferences. Also, she has authored 4 Books and has 3 patents published and granted. Her research areas include software testing, software reliability growth models, fault prediction, artificial intelligence, machine learning and information security.

As Dean, the main responsibilities are to mentor students in finding and defining the problem and integrating ethics with education. The student’s curriculum is to be redesigned for a minimum of 2-3 years based on the current requirements of the industry. The relevant courses must be recommended to the Program Academic Council and Board of Studies.

How is the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering keen on providing students with project opportunities?

“Students need to be motivated to get involved in solving real-time complex engineering problems”

I personally feel there must be an improvement in this regard. Our students are getting selected for international research internships and the college has tie-ups with many globalUniversities for the same purpose. With every year, the number of students opting to do international research projects is growing tremendously. We must concentrate on product-based and project-based learning.

Any message you would like to give to the aspiring students?

Therefore, I always suggest the youth indulge in research and find multiple solutions to various problems. They must have better understanding, find their passion, and attain academic satisfaction.
