Dr. Gaurav Sharma is Professor in the Orthodontics Department in Vyas Dental College and Hospital. He has gained experience of 11 years in the teaching field at different colleges of Rajasthan. He has also done prominent research “Comparative evaluation of skeletal and dental changes with forums and twin force bite correctors in an in vivo study.” He has organized and attended various national conferences, PG conventions, and CDE programs and was appointed as ‘Organising Secretary’ of Damon Philosophy and Technique workshop at Vyas Dental College and Hospital.

In what cases students are working in your college?

“Provide cases according to the different levels of Orthodontics”

Our department gives exposure to comprehensive practical education to the students. The students in our college are given the opportunity to work with cases ranging from simple clinical cases to complicated surgical cases. These cases will help them to establish themselves as successful and confident orthodontic practitioners.

Orthodontics and other departments of the college provide students with a positive and excellent working environment. The students are allowed to present their views in clinical research work. Moreover, our department also offers students methodically training in both preclinical and clinical areas by the fraternity.

How do you ensure practical learning for students?

“By allowing them to express their thoughts and views on clinical subjects”

Our department considers that practical training is more important than theoretical learning especially in the case of the Orthodontics field. However, both the theoretical and practical training goes hand in hand in our department. The students are also encouraged to present their views and are permitted to apply their approaches in doing clinical work. 


How do you establish healthy relations with the students?

“By treating students and other faculty members as family members”

Our department is quite friendly and supportive to the students. We are available there for counselling students. The students are always welcomed in our department for getting solutions to their queries. We also respect other professional views regarding the cases that require interdisciplinary treatment approaches, helping to build a healthy relationship with fellow faculty. 


What are the approaches you bring in for teaching students?

“Introducing new technology and advancements done to the students”

New technology has become a necessity for everyone. Our department makes sure that all the students are aware and keep in touch with the updated version of the technology and recent advancements done in the clinical field. Besides this, it is our prime concern to teach students how to deal with the patients and their colleagues and help them for their future.


Does your college organize any extracurricular activities?

“Activities increase students knowledge about the specific field”

Our college organizes various extracurricular activities such as conferences, seminars on a regular basis. These activities are designed for the purpose of all-round development of the students. Besides this, the students are motivated to attend the conferences and CDE programs to enhance their clinical knowledge. Apart from this, we conduct virtual CDE programs on behalf of the college and our department.

How do you help your student to cope up with the high competition?

We know that challenges and competition are getting tougher day by day. That's why we make sure that the student gets a quality education of theoretical as well as clinical research. Besides this, the students are also provided with the training of “How to be a good orator”. This is done for the purpose of creating healthy relationships with the patients.
