What is the expected cutoff for CSE in IIT Gandhinagar?

AM
Aman Madnani Posted On : February 20th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (2019)

This question varies on a lot of factors as students generally have the tendency to opt for the branches and the institute based on opening and closing ranks of the previous years.

Based on the interactions with parents of the potential students, CSE can be a very valuable option. This can be a very big deal maker or breaker in case of making decisions. Keeping all these in mind, the following table shows the 2020 cut off for CSE at IIT Gandhinagar:

Categories

Cut off Range

General (Gender Neutral)

981-1398

General (Female)

2805-2871

OBC

530-730

SC

185-528

ST

188-226

A common misconception can often be seen in the minds of both the students as well as their parents are as follows:

As the CSE is newly started at IIT Gandhinagar, you might think that it will not be as good as the other IITs. The CS department has been offering Ph.D. for a long time and the quality of their faculty is superior.

There are also up-to-date resources and infrastructure which is the reason for starting B.Tech CSE. There is no room for compromise from the institute when it comes to providing quality education to its students. In addition to the Dual Degree Program, they are offering minors in computer science as well.

Which is better for CSE BIT PATNA or LNCT Bhopal?

SD
Sambhav Dasgupta Posted On : September 24th, 2021
B.E Mechanical Engineering,Birla Institute of Technology,Patna Campus (2020)

Both colleges are quite good. My sister is currently pursuing her CSE from BIT Patna so here are some crucial insights you must have a look at.

  • CSE at BIT Patna is quite impressive keeping in mind that the placement scenario in this college is better than most colleges of the same tier. Almost every student of BIT Patna gets a fair chance to seat in the placement of the Main campus, i.e. BIT Mesra Ranchi and many of them get placed too.
  • The job profiles and packages are quite lucrative with an average package of around 6 lakh for CSE in BIT Patna.
  • However, BIT Patna stands a little expensive as compared to LNCT Bhopal. It will cost around 12 lakhs to complete a 4-year degree.

BIT Patna definitely stands as a better choice if placements are your goal and there are no financial constraints. Choose wisely as you would be dedicating your precious 4 years of your life that will decide your career.

Should I pursue ECE at a new IIIT like IIIT Bhopal or attend an NIT in one of the Seven Sister States?

SG
Saurav Ghosh Posted On : March 23rd, 2021
B.Tech in E.C.E from National Institute of Technology Silchar (2020)

Firstly IIITs are newly established colleges and hence they are far behind from good NITs. I have a friend in NIT Silchar. I heard good things about the institute from him.

Here are some of the things that make NIT Silchar a good choice.

  • It is 9th on the list of top 10 NITs.
  • It is the second most premium institute in the northeast after IIT Guwahati.
  • Placements here are top class with great infrastructure and world-class faculty.
  • NIT Silchar is known for its Digital Library which is the biggest, not only in India but in entire South Asia.

You should go for NITs and you won't regret it. Rest depends on your research and feasibility.

What would be better: EC in SGSITS or CSE in IET DAVV?

JS
Jai Shrivastava Posted On : April 12th, 2021
B.E Computer Science, Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (2020)

If you are comparing Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science, and The Institute of Engineering & Technology, DAVV, then go for the former. IET DAVV has its own reputation but not better than SGSITS.

Here is the comparison between SGSITS and IET DAVV.

  1. Faculty: The educational qualification of SGSITS professors are PhD holders from, old IITs and IISC. And only a few IET DAVV professors have PhDs from IIT and IISC.
  2. Placement: SGSITS is one of the oldest colleges and thus has a good placement record. Its Alumni are also wider and good. That is why every department of students of SGSITS got placed including CSE and EC. Companies such as Adani, Aditya Birla, Adobe, Asian Paints, Axis Bank, Deloitte, etc come for campus placement. On the other hand, IET DAVV also has decent placement. IET DAVV mostly has software companies as a recruiter. But its placement record is not better than SGSITS.
  3. Campus and Student Life: IET DAVV has good campus and student life. It has a good cultural fest. While SGSITS has good technical fests.
  4. Reputation and brand value: The reputation of SGSITS is better than IET DAVV and gives more brand value in a long run. IET DAVV is popular only in MP but SGSITS has a nationwide reputation.

Therefore, if you thinking to join SGSITS and IET DAVV, then choose EC from SGSITS. It has good faculty, placement record, and greater brand value which will help you in your career.

Where is the best for chemical engineering, NIT Jaipur, NIT Bhopal, or NIT Calicut?

NR
Nayantara Raman Posted On : August 20th, 2021
B.Tech. in Mechanical, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (2017)

All the mentioned NITs are among the top engineering institutes in the country. Out of all the NITs in India, the best choice is NIT Rourkela. As some of my friends studied there I might be able to give you some reasons. These are:

  • NIT Rourkela is famous for its Chemical Branch.
  • The research culture of the institute is outstanding.
  • The institute has been ranked 16th in the NIRF Ranking for Engineering 2020. It is way above all the three institutes mentioned.
  • The JEE Main cut-offs are high. So, only the best students get a chance for admission.
  • The college also encourages diversity.

The fee and chemical branch placement details are as follows.

Categories Chemical at NIT Rourkela
Fee INR 8.22 Lakhs
Minimum Package INR 3.6 LPA
Average Package INR 6.58 LPA
Highest Package INR 22 LPA

The top recruiters include L&T, Reliance, Tata, P&G, Parle, ACC Cement, Aditya Birla, IOCL, PGCIL, NTPC, GMR Energy, GlaxoSmithKline, and more.

Overall, NIT Rourkela is an excellent choice. After CSE and EC branches, the Chemical branch recorded the highest placements. The return on investment of college is decent. But you should opt for it only if you can deal with and function under strict regulations and laws.

Which is better for ECE - MNNIT Allahabad or DTU?

SM
Sagarika Mukherjee Posted On : September 13th, 2022
B.Tech from Delhi Technological University

MNNIT Allahabad is better for ECE. The department has a great faculty and the professors are helpful. The ECE department has many clubs and societies such as Robotics Club and Electronics Society. These clubs have various ongoing research projects. The faculties also take part actively in these projects.

Although the core job opportunities are not too encouraging, few companies do take part in the placements drive. In the past students got internship opportunities in companies such as Qualcomm, Samsung, Airtel, etc. Many IT companies also recruit ECE students. According to the recent highlights of MNNIT Allahabad placements, the highest CTC offered to ECE students is around INR 51 LPA.

is btech civil engineering available in gcet jammu

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 21st, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu offers undergraduate courses in Engineering. However, these courses are Bachelor in Engineering and not Bachelor of Technology. The primary difference between BE and BTech is that the former focuses on the theoretical foundations of engineering students whereas the latter is an application-based degree.

GCET Jammu offers BE in Civil Engineering the duration of which is 4 years. The eligibility criteria to get admission to this program is

  • At least 50% marks in aggregate in 10+2 with English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as subjects from J&K Board of School Education or its equivalent.

One of my friends recently completed the program and told me that the placement scenario is hopeless with an average package of around INR 2-3 LPA.

So, I will recommend you to go to a better institute.

Which is better at IET Lucknow, ECE or CSE?

DK
Dev Kulkarni Posted On : August 20th, 2021
B.E from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow

CSE is considered a better option than ECE in today’s current scenario and has much better scope and field of work. The scope for CSE broadens with each passing day and with every new invention in the fields of technology and the IT sector. Although ECE is one of the core branches of IET Lucknow still CSE has more demand compared to it.

Following are some drawbacks of the ECE branch at IET Lucknow over CSE:

  • You need a higher percentage of attendance to become eligible for exams. Less attendance leads to deduction of marks.
  • The syllabus is huge for every semester
  • The professors are very strict with the evaluation process and do not give marks easily
  • There are a lot of lab practicals and assignments to complete in a very short period of time.

CSE has a better environment than ECE with no strict attendance regulation. The professors in the CSE department are friendly. The placement of the CSE branch is far better than any other branch in IET Lucknow.

Iiit kota computer science vs iiit vadodara computer science: which one is better?

KJ
Karuna Jain Posted On : April 16th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara (2019)

IIIT Vadodara has been established with an aim to develop new knowledge technology and provide manpower to the global standards for the IT industry. Practically the institute lacks facilities that are required to meet this objective.

Problems with IIIT Vadodara:

  • The institute is far from the minimum standards that an institute of national importance should have.
  • DAICT is decent institute but has not mentored IIIT Vadodara properly.
  • The institute is struggling with research, placements, and research.
  • The institute’s faculty is young and struggling to match the standard quality of teaching. More new faculties with rich experience are required.
  • The students are directed to do only theoretical learning and are not exposed to innovative and cutting-edge research driven teaching.

IIIT Kota:

  • The institute has excellent hostel facilities with internet, mess, and canteen.
  • Library is well-equipped with all books and digital library.
  • The institute has decent sports facility, medical and IT facility.
  • The institute is government-run, so there are various opportunities for scholarship.
  • The placements are also decent. The highest package offered was 30 LPA while the lowest package was 3.5 LPA. The top recruiters were TCS, Amazon, and MAQ Software.

Winning Institute:

As per the problems faced by IIIT Vadodara, it is clear that IIIT Kota has an edge over it. IIIT Kota has the clear winning points.
