How are the placements for the XIMB UMG course?

DM
Debottam Mukherjee Posted On : April 22nd, 2021
MBA from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2019)

The only suggestion considering this question is that it is better not to join these courses. It is due to the current horrible situation in the real estate business market. Thereby, there are minimal chances to get a job as a city planner or infrastructural manager. Besides, the offered salaries are also below that average scale; thus, the ROI is extremely zero. The student will be frustrated later by facing these issues consecutively.

However, there are also some similar courses in XUB, NICMAR, RICS SBE, and SCMHRD. None of these is good. If you are interested in this type of career option, you can go for NICMAR, as it is an old institute. This institute also offers an average salary of about 6 LPA. Besides, it is required to study well, prepare for CAT, and get at least 90%. This is the ultimate option and allows you to choose a top-level institute among 30-40 colleges. Otherwise, it will be just wasting of hard-earned money.

What do I have to do to get a call from SP Jain or XIMB?

MJ
Manu Jha Posted On : March 13th, 2023
PGDRM, PRM38 from Institute of Rural Management, Anand

My answer will be strictly pertaining to SP Jain as my sister is a student there and I have quite a lot of information about the admission criteria there. SP Jain has unique criteria wherein almost 70% of the parameters are uncontrollable. Some of them include

  • Past Academic Record
  • Nature of work experience and employee brand value
  • Extracurricular background
  • Diversity of profile

These are some factors that are hardly in one’s control. So one should not be disappointed if she/he lacks in these aspects. Well, it is now that the factors that are controllable come into the picture. You can work on these factors and compensate for the flaws in your profile

  • Prepare for CAT/XAT/GMAT to the best of your ability.
  • Filling out the application form with a genuine portrayal of your personality and candidature in the fields where you are asked about your versatility, leadership quality etc.

If the stars align, you will surely get a call. From what I have heard, every PGDM batch has students with both exception profiles as well as normal profiles. So what you need to focus on is finding a unique trait of yourself and working on it relentlessly.

Which is better: IMI, Delhi or XIMB?

SN
Shubhra Nath Posted On : March 15th, 2023
MBA-HRM from XIM University, Bhubaneswar

The choice between IMI and Xavier University depends on which course you want to pursue.

If you want to pursue the core course, i.e., General Management at IMI or Business Management at XIMB, then both are almost at par with similar placements. Your decision will be based on your location and brand preference.

If you want to pursue HR, then Xavier has the advantage.

If you want to pursue Rural Management, Sustainability Management, Urban Governance or Masters in Business Finance, then IMI Delhi doesn't have any of these courses. On the other hand, IMI Delhi offers Banking and Financial Services which is not offered by Xavier University.

Should I join XIMB or wait for another year and try again for IIMs?

AS
Aritra Sahu Posted On : June 14th, 2021
BM from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2018)

It depends on you whether you want to join XIMB or try for IIM one more time. If you have the option to take a drop and pursue again it’s worth it. The only condition is that you will have to hustle more than ever and commit even harder than before.

If you have work experience of 2 years and can manage a year of preparation then definitely go for another try at IIM. However, if you have no option of taking a drop and have to choose XIMB it is still great as XIMB is also one of the leading B-schools in the country in every way.

Also, with work experience of more than 2-4 years, XIMB will boost your CV. If you are fresher then taking a year off may not be wise. As during placements your records will be seen and it may create some negative impression.

How different are the career paths of individuals who pursue their MBA in HR from XIMB/SIBM/SCMHRD as compared to those from XLRI/TISS/MDI?

SK
Sabitha Krutarth Posted On : May 18th, 2023

The answer can be divided into two main parts: Curriculum and Placements.

In terms of Curriculum, TISS is rated as having the best. Colleges whose core degree is not HR will be at a disadvantage when it comes to curriculum.

In terms of Placements, XLRI is ranked as having the best package and profile offerings, followed by a tie between TISS and SCMHRD. The colleges whose core is not HR will not offer as good a package post-MBA as compared to the colleges with core HR competencies.

In terms of packages offered, XLRI can be ranked the highest, followed by SCMHRD and TISS in a tie, and then MDI, SIBM, and XIMB.
