CEG (the main campus of Anna University) has a high placement rate when compared to other colleges in Tamil Nadu. It differs depending on the department.
Anna University has an MTech ranking of 18. If you are among the top five students in your class and have significant practical experience, you will almost certainly be placed.
Approximately 2,000 students were placed during the Anna University placements in 2022. During Anna University placements in 2022, the highest and average packages offered were INR 36.50 LPA and INR 6.93 LPA, respectively. Aside from that, 27% of the total batch received a monthly stipend ranging from INR 50,000 to INR 1,00,000 during Anna University internships in 2022.
You cannot predict the exact marks you received in the examination by converting Anna University's CGPA to marks. If you want to convert them into marks, the mark ranges for a corresponding Letter grade or Grade point are provided at the back of each Anna university mark sheet, from which you can take the maximum mark as your marks in that subject. You can calculate your CGPA's total marks by converting each grade point into a mark.
From the release of the end-of-semester results until the deadline for applying for re-evaluation and photocopies of the answer sheets, students will have access to the online mark sheet. Check the email sent to your account that is connected to ACOE SEMS if you missed this. You receive a mark sheet in the mail that only includes the grade points—not the attendance rate or assessment scores. If for some reason, the mail wasn't delivered, you can request to see the mark sheet at the ACOE office or from your department's head, who enters the grades for the hard copy, if they are responsible for doing so.
The only other choice is to wait until the end of the following semester when they distribute the hard copies if none of this passes muster. It is suggested that you check your marks within the allotted time and take a screenshot or save the pdf form to prevent such situations.
The CGPA and GPA are based solely on the subjects you have completed. If you fail seven out of eight subjects in a semester but receive an "S" on the one you did pass, for instance, you will have a GPA of 10 for that semester. Your GPA and CGPA are updated as you pass each of the courses you failed.
Ignore the subjects you failed; instead, focus on the credits for the ones you passed; multiply those credits by the grade you obtained, and continue adding the values for all the subjects you passed. Divide this figure by the total number of credits earned in the subjects you've completed. This will calculate your GPA. Because the credits for each semester are not the same, you must perform this calculation for all subjects beginning with your first semester to determine your CGPA.
There is no passing grade. It is determined by the cut-off point. The TANCET cut-off is determined by the following factors:
Availability of seats
Total number of applicants for TANCET
Total number of test participants
The exam's level of difficulty.
TANCET requires a score of 60-65 to achieve the 99%ile. The TANCET percentile score is calculated using the following formula:
Percentile Score on the TANCET: (Y/N)*100
In this case, Y represents the total number of test takers with a lower score. Whereas N denotes the total number of candidates who took the TANCET exam. A candidate who received a 97 percent score performed better than 97 percent of TANCET 2023 test-takers.
Other state students might face some major issues at Anna University. Some of them are:
Language Barrier: Almost everyone in Tamil Nadu converse in their mother tongue. So students from other states might face language issues outside the campus.
Climate: Chennai experiences a hot and humid climate throughout the year. The unbearable heat might be a serious issue for someone from a cooler state.
Food: Although Chennai offers both veg and non-vegetarian, if you are a true North Indian you will definitely miss North Indian food here.
Metropolitan: Life in Chennai is very fast-paced and can seem overwhelming for anyone. Also the pollution levels are high.
Whether Anna University is good for other state students actually depends on their capability to endure the above factors.
If you have discontinued at the end of your 2nd year, then the best option is to fill in a gap certificate and restart from the same college itself. But if you are determined to change your college then you will have to deposit the fees of the remaining year and get a leaving certificate. Using this certificate you can start applying for other colleges anytime.
There are some very basic tips one needs to follow that might prove to be really helpful for a student of Anna University. Some of them are:
Make sure your handwriting is neat and beautiful. Surprisingly enough how you write matters more than what you write.
Use bookish language more than your own words
Interactions with the opposite gender might put you into serious trouble
Don’t oppose the professors no matter what they say. Respect them.
Do not use left hand for offering anything
Moustaches are necessary if you are a man and flowers+gold jewelry if you are a woman.
I know all these points are a bit weird but it’s true. Tamils respect their culture a lot and you might get disciplined for inflicting damages to it.
