AS
Atul Sharma Posted On : August 18th, 2021
PGDPM from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2018)

One of my friends is studying at NITIE, and as per his insights, both the programs are excellent. The final choice depends upon the area of your interest. Consider the following points before making the final choice.

  • PGDPM concentrates on teaching project management along with functional areas like Finance, HR, and others. It is a strategic level course that creates professionals for every sector or industry.
  • PGDMM is a course focusing on the manufacturing and operational part of a business. It builds skilled professional that is well-equipped with the latest technologies.
  • As per the past placement statistics, the average package for PGDPM is INR 11.5 LPA, and for PGDMM is INR 10.8 LPA.

Apart from the above points, detailed information about the two programs is available on the institute webpage. You can compare the programs and make your final choice. Overall, the scope of both programs is high.

Which college is best, GIM Goa Core PGDM or IMT Ghaziabad marketing?

ST
Shubham Tiwari Posted On : February 16th, 2023
Former Consultant at KPMG (2019–2021)

Both IMT Ghaziabad and GIM Goa are highly reputable institutes for post-graduation in marketing. Both institutes have a strong track record of producing high-quality graduates who are well-equipped to excel in the marketing field. However, when considering which program to pursue, there are several factors to take into account such as the quality of students passing out of these colleges, placement opportunities and profiles that interest you, and your academic scores.

It is recommended to research and speak with students from both institutes, as well as professionals in the field, to gain a better understanding of the curriculum, faculty, and alumni network of each institute. Additionally, if you have poor academic scores, it might be a good idea to consider a program with fewer students, to increase your chances of success. Furthermore, if you have more work experience, it would be a good idea to look into IMT Ghaziabad as it offers various opportunities for students with more experience.

IMT Ghaziabad is considered to be a tier above GIM Goa in terms of ranking, brand perception, placements, and opportunities. It is ranked in the same tier as the new IIMs, SIBM, NMIMS, XIMB, SCMHRD, and MICA. Additionally, IMT Ghaziabad is known for having a strong focus on marketing as its forte. On the other hand, GIM Goa falls in the category of institutes such as KJ, Fore, BIM, etc. It is important to do your research well and make an informed decision based on your career aspirations and goals.

Why does everyone talk about XLRI HR and not BM? Is BM bad at XLRI?

AP
Ashish Patil Posted On : June 17th, 2021
XLRI (Human and Resource Management 2019)

It is not a question about whether or not BM is bad, and HR is good. XLRI is more known for HR because it has stuck with the brand. The brand XLRI primarily had an established legacy in Industrial Relations (IR). Which later converted into HR. XLRI established its reputation as an IR concentrated institution following the Independence of the country.

BM, on the other hand, was inaugurated only afterward alongside older IIMs. This has somehow resulted in leading to the XLRI brand getting generally and mostly associated with HR, and not BM. It’s rare to find any industry or top-tier companies in the country where the top HR personnel is not from XLRI.

Now when talking about BM at XLRI, there is definitely a strong and successful alumni base from BM in the industrial sector. In fact, for further recruitments, alumni of XLRI get placed in McK, BCG, and several more from the BM sector.

Which MBA is better, IMT Ghaziabad (dual country course) or an MBA from BITSOM Mumbai?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : June 19th, 2023

Too close to call. Both are good choices to consider. On the other hand, if I have to take a call, I will most likely use BITSOM. Based on the below-mentioned reasons;

  1. Has a clear and compelling vision. aspires to be one of the best schools there is. Has aspirations on a worldwide scale.
  2. Has recruited highly qualified faculty and teams
  3. Very strongly supported
  4. Being open to making investments.

Therefore, it's possible that both will be tied in the short term, but I have a feeling that in the long run, BITSOM will pull ahead. The MBA, on the other hand, is strictly a long-term investment.

What exactly does an HR manager do after an MBA from XLRI?

CL
Carolyn Lionel Posted On : June 14th, 2021
Studied at University of Warwick (2000)

One of my students passed out of XLRI recently. Let me share his experiences after graduating from this institute. He claims it is one of the finest B-schools in India. It is popular for its Human Resource Management program.

There are few points you should keep in mind while choosing a career path after doing an MBA from XLRI.

  • An HR manager from any institute will do what their role is, perhaps you should try to find much more efficient ways to solve all those problems in their organization.
  • You should discover the problems from their abstract environment and try to solve them.
  • You must be active and observant, and find out the underlying problem that may create an issue and become an obstacle in the future.
  • You must try to look for organizations that are going through a change in terms of transformation or expansion.
  • You must choose an industry that they like and always look for opportunities to do any cross-functional roles.
  • In the HR profession, you may experience a career that offers good working conditions, good career growth opportunities, and rewarding work, these will boost your career.
  • An HR professional must have good communication skills and interpersonal skills to boost their interaction.

These are huge responsibilities after becoming an HR professional. You must be calm and try to understand everything and boost the morale of the people of your firm.

Since you haven't mentioned your background or favorite stream, I'll answer generally. Both schools seem fine. You can take IMT if you want to work in marketing. In your case, DCP's fees are a bit high, but you get a good amount of exposure. You can take IMT if you want to work in marketing. Can I get an HR role of I pursue pgdfm from iifm Bhopal?

SD
Sushmita Das Posted On : May 3rd, 2021
PGDFM from Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal (2020)

The Indian Institute of Forest Management has courses with specialized choices of subjects related to Forestry. For pursuing a career in Human resources, IIFM may not be a very good choice, but it is always possible to do the same.

The points below state how the institute is not quite suitable for an HR-based role.

  • The curriculum and subjects taught are related to domains like environment, management of natural forests, development, sustainability, conservation, and livelihood, etc. So, even being a management institute, IIFM is not quite suitable for the development of students in general management subjects like HR, finance, sales, and marketing, etc.
  • There are some subjects related to basic management but are mostly on the environment and its conservation. But, there are several students of IIFM presently working as HR managers of different companies. Therefore, it depends on the choice of interest of the candidate.

Therefore, choosing a career in HR being at IIFM is not a wise decision, but not an impossible one. It is the choice of the candidate as to where he/she wants to land in the industry.

How good is IMT Ghaziabad's PGDM(DCP) program? How are the placements? Do they provide degree certificate for PGDM or will it be written as PGDM (DCP)? How good is the internship opportunity?

PM
Priya Mehrotra Posted On : July 31st, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

The DCP program still has not reached its true potential and is still under experimentation. The students who have joined the program get an opportunity to take part in a short-term project in Dubai.

The project is a mini internship that gives you a chance to enter the corporate world of the Middle East. The short-term projects are a little difficult to come by but they are great for improving the profile. Some of the noteworthy names that offer STPs are Jumeirah, Jumbo Electronics, Al Tayer, etc.

The GITEX experience is an added boost for the students who are in marketing where one has to be in touch with their skills in negotiation, sales, and perseverance. In my friend’s opinion, they had a better time with the Indian faculty than they had with the international faculty but they were not bad either.

A number of the students were successful in converting their STPs into internships. The openings and the performance of the students determine the conversion. It is the same for converting the internship into a final placement offer. Some of the big names are Al Tayer, Flydubai, Apparel Group, Landmark, etc. The Indian internships offer better chances of full conversion than the foreign faculty.

The DCP and Full Time offer final placements in the Ghaziabad campus. If the campus is visited by companies from Dubai, the DCP is at an advantage and generally ends up getting shortlisted. In my friend’s opinion, DCP is a better option for students who are interested in pursuing marketing.
