Are there any state quota or discount on fees in good MBA/PGDM colleges like SIBM Bangalore, NMIMS IIM Bangalore TAPMI, etc.?

SP
Shreeja Prasad Posted On : July 31st, 2021
MBA from IIM Bangalore (2018)

SIBM Bangalore, NMIMS, IIM Bangalore, TAPMI have reputed management institutes. Admissions at these colleges are done on the basis of competitive examinations, interviews, and group discussions.

  • The college also provides scholarships to meritorious students especially those who are from economically backward backgrounds.
  • The admission committees of these institutes are served by eminent people who help the meritorious students in studying by giving them financial support. There are certain donations and corpus of funds that are raised for this purpose.
  • These big institutions have good reputations in the market so they generally do not indulge themselves in favoritism because that will damage the reputation of the college. They select their beneficiaries in a transparent way. There is no such thing as a discount on fees and government quotas in these colleges.

These institutes follow all the Govt. guidelines regarding the reservation. There are reservation quotas for various categories, and for ex-servicemen, people belong to certain income criteria and reservations are there for local candidates as well.

Apart from a good CAT score, if I have scored 94% in 10th, 93% in 12th and 82% in B.E, what are my chances for an IIM Bangalore call?

IG
Indrita Ghose Posted On : July 27th, 2021
IIM C (2018)

The chances of an interview call from IIM Bangalore depends on all factors cumulatively, 10th, 12, and graduation score, CAT percentile, profile, etc. Here are some of the things that you should know.

  • Since you scored 94% in 10th, 93% in 12th, and 82% in Engineering, your profile is quite good. However, that does not necessarily mean that you will get a call back from IIM Bangalore.
  • Work experience also plays a key role in getting a callback. For IIM Bangalore, it is somewhat difficult to expect a call without having work experience of at least 2 years or more.

Also, your CAT score should be at least more than the 99.6 percentile. Along with that, try to score better in sections like DILR, VARC, and QA.

MBA, KSRM (2019)

The MBA in Agribusiness Management program offered at KIIT School is a new course. It was started in 2019 and the first batch will graduate in 2021. The student intake for the course is 60. However, the strength of the first batch is 25. There are 2 students from abroad in the program. According to the reviews, some of the students dropped out of this course mid-way and various complain they didn’t receive their refund.

The table below has a brief overview of the MBA in Agribusiness Management program at KIIT School.

Category

KIIT School of Rural Management

Course Fee

INR 7.59 lakhs

Highest CTC

INR 8 LPA

Average CTC

INR 6.75 LPA

Faculty:

  • The faculty of this course are well-experienced but the teaching methodology adopted by them is dated. Most of the faculty members use PPT to discuss the topics and skip the details.
  • The classes are 75 minutes long which leaves students exhausted. There is a 15 minutes break after each class.

Admission:

The entrance examination KIITEE is more of a formality. There is no minimum cutoff that you need to secure for admission.

Hostel:

There are hostel accommodations on-campus. The hostel is good but it is surrounded by buildings. You can feel a bit claustrophobic in the hostel rooms sometimes.

During the lockdown for Covid-19, students were at home and taking classes online. Despite this situation, the institute charged around INR 7.5 lakhs course fee. Also, due to the pandemic summer internships were canceled this year. Students now need to find internships on their own.

Do your research and make an informed decision. Do not take admission just so you can get a job.
