What are the job and career prospects of an FMS Delhi student after 5 years on a job, compared to an IIM student?

Job and career prospects are relative terms, which depend a lot on any individual. Both IIMs and FMS is reputed college for MBA but FMS is comparable to top IIMs, the new IIMs are not that par with the FMS. The placement of FMS is quite high and matches that of BLACKI( Top 6 IIMs). If I compare top IIMs with FMS, I would say IIMs have a better name than FMS, so growing up the ladder in your career is more when you pass from a top IIM. As the alumni base of an IIM is more than that of an FMS. So according to me 5 years down the line, a top IIM guy will be in a better position.

What score of the CAT is required to get a call from FMS Delhi for an EWS candidate

AB

FMS Delhi may have a lower CAT score cutoff for applicants who fall under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category than it does for applicants who fall under the general category. FMS Delhi does not, however, make the precise cutoff for EWS candidates available to the public.

To improve their chances of getting a call from FMS Delhi, it is advised that EWS students aim for a CAT score above the 97-98 percentile. However, it's crucial to remember that FMS Delhi also considers the candidate's academic background, professional experience, and performance while making a shortlist of candidates. In addition to the CAT score, these factors are taken into account during the selection process.

How can I improve my CV/RESUME for FMS Delhi?

CB
Chitra Basu Posted On : May 30th, 2023
MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi (2018)

Improving your CV is important when you join a B-school because candidates are not shortlisted based on their CVs.

A basic approach to upgrading your CV would be to add points to portray a balanced profile (academic, work experience, extracurricular activities, competitions, certifications, etc.) or to be remarkable in a specific field.

Extracurricular activities, academic honors, prizes, scholarships, and career objectives were all requested on the application forms for FMS Delhi. During your PI round, you should expect a handful of questions from these areas, though the topic could be anything, including current events and your graduating course. So you must be up to date on current events and be prepared to speak for a few minutes on yourself or any random topic.

What are my chances to get into FMS Delhi or older IIMs? I have 94% in 10th and 78% in 12th in the Maharashtra board.

Your chances to get into FMS Delhi and any other older IIMs depend upon three criteria.

  1. First is how your CAT exam went. If you are in a general category, then you have to score at least 98 percentile in the CAT exam to get a call from these institutes.
  2. Second is how well you gave the interview. An interview is a make-or-break thing to enter into these institutes. If you give a good interview, then the interviewer will consider you even if you are lagging behind in a few aspects.
  3. Third, is the student profile, like your 10th, 12th, undergraduate percentage, and work experience.

The major contributor to your admission would be the first two factors. Your profile does not make such a difference when you excel in the first two. You could get into one of these prestigious institutes if you work hard enough.

I have 63% in 10th and 47% in 12th. Also, I got 59% in graduation. Is there any chance to get admission in IIM and FMS Delhi?

IIMs and FMS Delhi are the top management institutes in India, and they have very competitive admission processes. A high academic score can be an advantage but it is not the only criterion for admission. Admissions committees also consider other factors such as work experience, extracurricular activities, performance in entrance exams like CAT, XAT, or GMAT, and performance in GD and PI rounds.

Now based on the information you provided; your academic scores are below the average scores of the admitted candidates in these institutes. However, there are several factors that could improve your chances of admission. For example, if you have relevant work experience, achievements in extracurricular activities, a very high score in the CAT exam, a good GD score, and a really good and impressive personal interview, you could still be considered for admission.

So, the best thing for you right now is to focus on other aspects of your application such as your work experience, extracurricular activities, and performance in the entrance exams. Also, research the admission criteria and requirements for the specific programs you are interested in and try to meet them to the best of your ability. It is always a good idea to apply to several institutes to maximize your chances of admission.

I have 62% in 10th, 47% in 12th, and 45% in graduation. If I score equal or above 97%, will I get a call from FMS Delhi? I'm from the SC category.

Assuming that you have a graduation score greater than or equal to 45%, it is possible. But you will have to justify your academic performance in the interview and convince the panel that you will do exceedingly better than what your profile suggests. Considering the kind of candidates that FMS can choose from, it would take you quite an effort to do this.

It would be wise to keep your options open instead of putting all your eggs in one basket. Convincing the panelists is just one part of the story. You will then have to significantly transform your CV, become mentally prepared to be rejected by a few companies and crack the final process during your placements. So, you should take a couple of mocks or solve the CAT 2019 paper, understand the bracket that your final score will probably lie in, and then focus on those institutes.

Is MBA in marketing good in FMS Delhi?

SJ
Sidhharth Jain Posted On : May 30th, 2023
Studied at FMS

MBA in Marketing is one of the greatest options available at FMS. Faculty members such as Prof Harsh Verma will provide you with the marketing expertise you seek. He teaches a wide range of subjects.

Dr. Ajay Pandit was also present during our term and was a jewel of a person. Prof Harsh Verma is a personal favorite of students because he does not teach in a typical way. He stimulates your mental process and makes you think. This improves your analytical capacity to approach a topic conceptually. I enjoyed learning about Brand Management, Consumer Behaviour, and Service Marketing with him.

My friend got admission in the FMS and he is still thinking of dropping a year to get admission in the IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore or Calcutta. What should he do?

SS
Srimoyi Sen Posted On : February 11th, 2021
IIM Calcutta (2019)

Well, it entirely depends upon your friend and his professional profile.

He can think of a reattempt if:

  1. He has a great academic record in X, XII, and graduation
  2. He has a work experience of at least 2 years at present.
  3. He is confident of scoring high enough to get a call from IIM A, B, C next year and convert at least one of them successfully.

However, he should thoroughly evaluate his chances of being successful in securing his place in either IIM A, B, or C. Also, will his/her profile be good enough next year? With the admission criteria changing every year, it's not advisable to drop an offer from one of the premier non-IIM B- Schools for CAT retake. The cost of dropping a year in terms of money, time, and work experience, in particular, should be thoroughly evaluated.

Drop a year only after careful consideration. Otherwise, it will be wise to join FMS and give MBA a shot.
