Mechanical Engineering is an evergreen branch and considering the placement rate of LNCT, which is 75-80%, it hardly provides any placements to the mechanical branch students. It means the mechanical branch students don't have the core placements.
In the year 2020, there were 3-4 companies that came to the campus for the core placements and took a very less number of students. Therefore, there are very few placement opportunities for a mechanical branch student in LNCT Bhopal.
There are either no core placements or else the Institute will ask students to apply for the marketing companies and get a placement in that domain.
But then, if a student is good with the skill set and has good abilities, prepare for the exams like GATE, ONGC. It will help him/her in the future.

PEC Chandigarh placements are good for Production Engineering. Here are the current placement highlights of the branch.

Mu Sigma, Trident, JP Morgan, Maruti, etc. are some of the major recruiters that take part in the placement drive.
Having a job gap won't affect your CV shortlisting because most of the recruiters filter out students without looking at CVs, by just looking at their 10th, 12th, and graduation marks. Until they reach the GD room, the actual panelists don't even give a glance at the CVs.
The campus relation team, which is a part of the HR, does all the work, hand over the student’s list to the campus placement team and they forward it to the panelists directly. Till this process, the panelists don't go through the student's CVs seriously and these are submitted only for records.
After completing the GD round, you will be shortlisted for the personal interview round, if selected and in that step only they will go through your CV and then ask you questions based on it.
Hence, a job gap won't affect your campus placements at XLRI as most of the recruiters don't bother to look at the CVs of students until they reach the personal interview round. I have known people with gaps even more than 4 years to secure placement offers. A couple of companies may not shortlist you but you will not face any major problem.
Here is a glimpse of the placement scenario at KIIT.
Although the T & P cell works hard here, it fails to bring its good profiles. I would suggest you do a Master's from a good college to bring a posting change in your career.
A 65% in graduation shouldn’t be a deterrent during placements. Companies generally look at how you perform in your MBA. The academic percentages are only there for cut-offs and having more than 60% for that is sufficient.
During placements, you should be able to showcase your skills and those skills should align with what the firm is looking for at that point in time. Make sure you participate in competitions as it opens up your mind and helps you gain significant knowledge on a number of different topics and perspectives. Perform above average in class when it comes to academics/cgpa, and have some achievements under your belt. That will help you stand out.
It entirely depends on the branch that you are choosing. If you go for CSE then all the colleges SCT, RAJAGIRI, FISAT, SCMS have good placements opportunities. But in the case of other branches, Kerala colleges have a low level of placement except for NITs and IITs.
Good placements are available only for software firms and not for your core jobs. All the colleges above are good and will help you to attain the skills required for different jobs. And everything depends on you how much effort you will give to your course so that you can obtain experience as well as knowledge so that you can get a good job apart from your college placements

Microsoft has introduced a program namely DreamSpark by partnering with more than 80 institutions. With this initiative, the students are trained on Microsoft tools so that they can completely understand everything. Students enrolled in these institutions will already have hands-on experience in the industry.
NIT Calicut, however, has its policy where most of the software is used from the open-source domain and students are encouraged to contribute for the same through FOSSMeet activities.
If Microsoft hires students from FOSSMeet it would be a great loss as the entire time would be wasted to train them.
By not being trained according to the norms and policies of Microsoft, the company usually does not visit NIT Calicut for placements.
