In terms of placements for MBA, NMIMS Mumbai is definitely better than Christ University. NMIMS Mumbai placements are pretty good. According to the placement highlights, students received an average CTC of INR 19 LPA. While the highest CTC offered to the students was INR 24 LPA. For Christ University, the average CTC is around INR 15 LPA.

Can a BCom fresher with finance specialisation get a good placement at b-schools like IIFT, IIM Trichy, and other new IIMs?

CD

Grade 12 from Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions (Graduated 2021)

Since you are only concerned about placements, let me tell you that placement depends not on one but many factors. Some work experience, educational background, presence of mind, knowledge, and obviously luck. Based on your profile the pros and cons you will experience are as follows

Pros

  • You are already well-versed with the basics of the program which makes it easier to catch up initially.
  • Some companies, mainly Sales, Marketing, and Finance, prefer freshers over work experience.
  • You might have already figured out your interests because you are familiar with the program.

Cons

  • Some companies, mainly in the operations and consulting sector, prefer people with work experience only.
  • A little diversity won’t hurt

Lastly, since you are a fresher, before you join a B School, gather knowledge through books or certifications.

Why are IIM Ranchi and Raipur underrated compared to IIM Udaipur even after better placement records?

SK
Swathi Kiran Kumar Posted On : January 21st, 2023
Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Management Raipur (2020)

I think the single most important reason why IIM Raipur and Ranchi are considered below IIM Udaipur is the lack of proper marketing. IIM Udaipur has managed to make its mark through enough marketing and promoting research culture. The IIMRs is also flawed in the sense that they are located in extremely poor economic states. This flaw overshadows all their features and the fact that they have better placement scenarios than IIM Udaipur.

Every IIM has set a certain goal and is gradually climbing the ladder to reach its level of excellence. The same is the case with IIMRs. In just a few years these two will be among the best IIMs in India.

What is the placement percentage of students in NMIMS Mumbai?

AD
Anuraag Das Posted On : June 21st, 2023
Studied at MBA from NMIMS (2020)

The percentage of students placed at NMIMS Mumbai fluctuates from year to year, based on a variety of factors such as the economy, batch size, number of participating companies, and so on. NMIMS Mumbai, on the other hand, has a solid track record of campus placements, with several big corporations visiting the campus to recruit students.

NMIMS Mumbai had an average placement rate of roughly 85-90% for undergraduate and postgraduate programs as of my knowledge cut-off in 2021. The institute has a dedicated training and placement cell that assists students in preparing for the placement process and obtaining employment offers.

It's crucial to remember that the placement percentage is subject to change, so always check the institute's official website or placement cell for the most up-to-date information.

RM
Rina Majumder, Posted On : October 28th, 2021
studied from Kalinga University (2019)

Kalinga University (KU) is one of the newly established universities in Chhattisgarh. When KU is compared with other newly established universities, it has proven to have a better growth rate than others.

  • It provides good infrastructure and an environment appropriate for education.
  • They also provide students with enough opportunities. Extracurricular activities are given proper importance and recognition.
  • The faculty members are highly experienced.
  • The subjects commerce and management, IT, and Law in KU are considered to be superior to the others.
  • For engineering aspirants, KU is a growing institution as its labs are still under development.
  • For jobs and placements, you really have to present your talent and skills.

Try being an active participant in all the activities. Study hard, groom yourself and start preparing yourself for the placement from day one, as building up yourself step by step will take time.

How can we improve the placement scenario at IIEST Shibpur?

DS
Devaanshi Sule Posted On : July 8th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (2021)

It is critical to understand the market's demands, you have to examine every aspect properly.

Some of the measures are as follows:

  • Faculty: Hire the best in the market who have good credentials and have good experience in particular fields.
  • Placement coordinator: A placement coordinator serves as the link between the college and the industry.
  • Curriculum: The course curriculum should be industry-relevant for better exposure. It must be in sync with the wider industry and its association.
  • Students: The admission process can be made a little stringent so that only good students can get admission. A good company can be brought to campus, but whether they hire or fire students is entirely up to the individual.
  • Infrastructure: Issues like dilapidated buildings, run-down canteens, and a booklet library should be taken into consideration. A good infrastructure attracts better companies and it will only enhance the reputation.

To implement the same, it is important for every department to raise their voices together and improve the quality of the placements.

How is it possible that Chandigarh University students are getting higher or equal packages to PEC or UIET despite having such a low cut-off when compared to PEC?

AS
Abhay Sukla Posted On : May 5th, 2021
PEC Chandigarh

The package acquisition is not a college deed in the case of Chandigarh University. There are many factors that you need to consider whenever you want to compare placements in colleges.

UIET/PEC:

  • Both these are government colleges. UIET, being a new one is still rising and working. It has strict admission rules and academic procedures that follow AICTE’s rules.
  • It has an average of 100-120 students in every branch. The number of students is a bit lower in branches like Meta or BioT. So, you will see around 600 students in a batch of 20xx.
  • There’s no way anyone can get admission without clearing the counseling. There are no management seats and hence no pay to study. We should also note that UIET has no Home Quota.
  • This makes the admission more open to deserving candidates. Almost 80% of the present batch doesn’t belong to Chandigarh or places around.

CU or any other similar private college:

  • It might sound lucrative but the reality is that they don’t have any seat matrix. You can even check on a verified website, ask students and do your own research.
  • You will find that CU gives admission to N number of students where N is the number of students who can afford it.
  • The year 2018-19 saw 2000 Engineering students getting admission but the batch of 2020 had 2600 students in CSE with just 60 students in Electrical.

Placements:

  • UIET/ PEC: There are almost 70-90% placements in different branches. These numbers are now going down very drastically not because of the companies which offer placements, but because many students don’t want placements. UIET has funded more than 8 startups out of the college in the past 4 years. PEC also has a significantly greater number of placements. 20+ elite companies and other 50+ local startups visit both these colleges, along with few mass recruiters.
  • CU: Tough they claim huge campus placements, which is true, they have never displayed or claimed the people placed or even their exact placement statistics. CU holds 3-4 pool placements where anyone, even the ones outside the campus, can come for placements and if they get placed, they are said to be placed from CU. Moreover, the genuine placements are divided among engineering and MBA students. UIET doesn’t have MBA. CU hasn’t shared the average placement records either. They would probably be very low, seeing their records, maybe around 2-3L, but definitely not more than that.

Now that you know all the facts, you must also know that a college hardly matters. What matters the most is what you wish to make of yourself. You can get a 20-40L package from CU/UIET/PEC if you want to work for it. You can even become an entrepreneur.
