AP
Adithya Priyadarshi Posted On : July 8th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Calicut, graduated in 2020

One of my friends from school used to be a student of the NIT Calicut. I can share his experience at the institute.

  • The crowd in NIT Calicut is enormously competitive.
  • In addition to the coursework, the institute gives a lot of importance is given to extra-curricular activities. NIT Calicut will encourage you to participate in the activities. There are also activities such as projects, engaging in works related to research and workshops.
  • Some of the best faculty members are engaged in said activities and they can often be found in one of these workshops.
  • All of the faculty have immense knowledge and are also very talented. They are very supportive and enthusiastically help the students push their limits and living up to their true potential.

My friend advises that you should expect the coursework to be rigorous. The institute also plans occasional trips to Ooty, Kochi, Goa, etc.

NIT Warangal has collaborated recently with ABB Power Grids India which will help in the creation of reliable and clean power. The launch of a unique Master of Technology in Smart Electric Field is a part of the said collaboration.

NIT Warangal also offers MBA programs that are part-time in nature for working professionals. There are 13 specializations along with an option for extending the duration.

How is campus life at NIT Calicut? What about the freedom, enjoyment, education and other rules and regulations there?

SB
Shiv Bakshi Posted On : August 24th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Calicut

One of my friends studied at NIT Calicut and as per him, NIT Calicut is actually great but only for boys.

The first year of college would be hard for everyone because the subjects would be different and tougher.

From the second year of college, the boys will not have any restrictions. They will have a lot of freedom. For girls, the hostel entry timing is 9 pm till night, it has recently been amended from 7 pm. Thus, it would not be so great for girls as they won’t have much freedom as compared to boys.

The academics are going to be hard and tough. There are a lot of rules and regulations, but the students don’t pay much attention. NIT Calicut is changing at a faster pace and it is all getting better. The campus has been expanding, the infrastructure is in progress.

Overall, it would be a great experience to study at NIT Calicut and it would be totally worth it.

Which is the best option, BITS Pilani Goa (CSC) or Calicut NIT (CSC)?

SJ
Shanaya Jauhari Posted On : August 20th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Shillong (2019)

First of all, I want to clarify that there is no such branch called CSC in either BITS Pilani or NIT Calicut. Both the colleges have Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) degrees

  • BITS Pilani is a top private engineering university. However the same cannot be said about its Goa campus.
  • NIT is a brand that is recognized instantly by almost everyone in any part of the country and this gives NIT Calicut a distinct advantage.
  • As it is a government-run college the learning environment is also better due to the better quality of students.
  • Companies also prefer NITs over private engineering colleges. You will get better job opportunities at NIT Calicut.
Categories CSE at BITS Pilani Goa CSE at NIT Calicut
Course Fee 19.19 lakh 5.42 lakh
Highest CTC 24 LPA 29 LPA
Average CTC 11 LPA 18 LPA
Recruiting Companies Google, nVidia, DE Shaw, Arcesium, etc. Wipro, TCS, Accenture, IBM, etc.

Hence it is suggested that CSE at NIT Calicut is a much better choice than CSE at BITS Pilani Goa campus.

Which one is the best, a dual degree in economics at BITS or ECE at NIT Calicut?

NS
Nikita Sharma Posted On : August 25th, 2021
Studied at NIT Calicut (2019)

Both the fields are greatly different. One lets you deal with finance and the other with mobile and technology. It completely depends on your interest.

ECE from NIT Calicut seems to be a better option. Because if you opt for it you will just have to brush up your knowledge on physics and learn more about it. Whereas economics will be a new subject and it will take a lot of time to learn it from scratch.

  • In terms of college, BITS is surely a better option than NIT Calicut. But it’s not just about college, an NIT CSE graduate can land a job in Google and earn a lot.
  • Whereas somebody from IIT with Civil would have to compromise as there are not a lot of jobs offered in that field.
  • If you are interested in pursuing M.Tech from India or abroad or if you even want to have a great job, in the beginning, ECE from NIT Calicut is the best option.
  • But if you want to learn economics from scratch and pursue it to become an economist then economics is also a good option.
Category NIT Calicut BITS
Total Fee 5.42 lakhs 2.3 lakhs
Companies Visited Oracle, Infosys, JP Morgan, etc. Accolite, Aditya Birla, Cummins, etc.
Highest Package 49 LPA 15 LPA
Average Package 15 LPA 8.5 LPA

Therefore, you must look into your interests and not opt for anything which just looks good. ECE is a circuit line and jobs are plenty in them too. So taking up ECE at NIT Calicut is a better option.

I am getting ICT Mumbai Polymer Engineering and Chemical Engineering of a decent NIT, which should I freeze?

MS
Mukesh Sinha Posted On : August 18th, 2022
Lived in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

If you are interested in Polymar Engineering, ICT Mumbai is the better option. ICT curriculum will give you an edge if you are planning on pursuing higher studies or further research. Recent highlights of ICT Mumbai placements show the average package for Polymar Engineering to be INR 2-3 LPA. The placements are in core sectors. IT and Consulting sectors don’t usually recruit students from Polymar Engineering.

Keep in mind that Polymar Engineering is a specialized field. The job opportunities are limited. Doing Chemical Engineering from a reputed NIT will give the chance to explore more. After pursuing Chemical Engineering, you can specialize in Polymar Engineering but the opposite isn’t possible.
